A Letter From Afghanistan: “All We Ask Is That You Don’t Forget About Us”

Even with all the distractions and all the misinformation in the news, even with the concerns about the economy and the election and the deployment fatigue brought on by ten years of war, all that we ask from you is this:

Don’t forget about the daily struggles of the countless wounded warriors you have never heard about that fight like hell to heal like Colin Smith, Derek Herrera, Dan Crenshaw, Dan Cnossen and Matt Lampert.

Don’t ever forget about the ultimate sacrifices made by real American Heroes like Jenn Harris, Jared Landaker, JT Wrobleski, Richard Gannon, Ronnie Winchester, Kevin Shea, Kyle VanDeGiesen, Matt Freeman, Brendan Looney, Travis Manion, Matt, Ryan, Sky and so many others. Forever appreciate and never forget what they have done for us. I never will.

And share.

The President’s Grand Gun Control Plan & EOs ~

The Office of the Press Secretary sent out the following list of all 23 executive actions.

Today, the President is announcing that he and the Administration will:

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

You can read the transcript of Biden and Obama’s speeches here.

The use of children, dead and alive, by this administration was beyond shameful.

What is missing from most of yak, yak, yaking from the pundits and Congress critters, who really should know better, is that the Congress, nor the President has the constitutional power to infringe on my right to bear arms.  Period.  (And that includes the ammo too.)  It’s because of the likes of them that our wise Founders felt it necessary to have the 2nd Amendment written in our Bill of Rights.  This isn’t brain surgery – it’s right there, in black and parchment for all to read.  the Supreme Court can give their opinion until the cows come home – they cannot legislate or amend the Constitution, no matter how much they would like to do so.  That isn’t in their job description.

My heart hurts so for any parent who loses a child to murder – I can’t begin to imagine what living through that would be like.  I’m sure I’d be found in the corner in a fetal position. Yet sadly, all this political grandstanding and Liberty-snatching from law-abiding people will not save another child.

it isn’t the guns.  it’s the fact that people who are prone to murderous behavior for whatever reason are left to freely roam the streets and maybe live in your neighborhood because the ACLU and their ilk have made it damn near impossible to institutionalize the mentally ill and properly punish the criminals.

My cousin was schizophrenic.  When he was attended to and on his meds, he was fine. Unfortunately, in those days, the meds for Schzophrenia were pretty harsh and he would stop taking them- after all, he was doing okay. so he thought.

A sweet kid, I loved it when he would come visit. We’d roam my grandparents’ farm, shoot bows and arrows and catch frogs.  He married a wonderful young woman after he served in the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, he was one of a number of people who can develop this mental illness as a young adult.  They were divorced, I believe, by mutual consent.

On one of the occasions my cousin went off his meds, my uncle came home from the store and found him pouring gasoline over my aunt, ready to strike a match.  She had suffered a stroke and was bedridden – helpless and terrified.  Luckily, my uncle was able to subdue him and my aunt was unharmed.  And luckily, this was before it took moving mountains to get someone into a place of help so they couldn’t harm anyone or themselves.  It was a long, long nightmare for my aunt and uncle ~ nevermind the anguish that my cousin lived with day after day.

My cousin didn’t have a gun.  No, he had a can of gasoline and a match.  My aunt would have died a horrible death if my uncle hadn’t gotten home when he did.

I don’t know the answer to the murder of innocents.  Lord knows, it has been happening since humans first walked this earth.  And long before man invented firearms.

What I do know is the daily pain and fear of the parents of a mentally child.  And there will always be criminals doing criminal things, with guns or without guns.

And I’ll tell you – if those making all these laws about owning a gun are telling me my daughter may have to let herself be raped or worse because she couldn’t shoot the bastard in self-defense…well, that’s a problem, right there.

Jihad-Denialist Nominated to Head CIA

President Obama’s determination to keep his Middle East outreach agenda alive, no matter how at odds with reality, continues. Yesterday, John Brennan, Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, was nominated to head the CIA, replacing scandal-scarred David Petraeus. “John knows what our national security demands,” Obama announced.

At best, the 25-year CIA veteran’s record is a mixed bag. At worst, he becomes another link in the administration’s efforts to normalize relations with Islamic terrorists.

A soft-on-terror approach, combined with an appetite for unprecedented powers, makes John Brennan a perfect fit for a president with the same proclivities. So does a dubious mixture of incompetence and arrogance.

”Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill.”

“They are not jihadists, for jihad is a holy struggle, an effort to purify for a legitimate purpose, and there is nothing–absolutely nothing–holy or pure or legitimate or Islamic about murdering innocent men, women and children”

I don’t know which is scarier ~ this man head of the CIA or those (non)terrorists.

But wait!

Not to be outdone in asinine ideology and absolute cluelessness, we have good ol’ Chuck Hagel:

The Anti-War/Anti-Semitic Defense Chief

Hagel has become the darling of the radical anti-war crowd for his virulent attacks on President Bush’s Iraq war policies, his appeasement of Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, and his sharp criticism of enhanced interrogation. Back in 2008, when Hagel’s name was first being floated for a possible cabinet position in the Obama administration, Medea Benjamin, executive director of the far-Left group CodePink, said: “Hagel would be a good choice. I think he’s shown himself to be an outspoken critic of the terrible policies of the Bush administration.”

Just the other day, Michael Moore reflected on Hagel’s stance against the Iraq war and wrote, “thank you, Chuck Hagel.”

Hagel is also beloved by Israel-haters and anti-Semites, including the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Iranian regime’s TV network mouthpiece, TVPress, because of the extreme anti-Israel, anti-Jewish views that Hagel has expressed over the years.

And I thought Panetta was bad…

Still Here ~

I’ve just been busy with projects and such and keeping my eye on the idiots in DC.  Four more years of this crap!  Face/keyboard.

Since I don’t watch TV news much anymore, I scour the internet to try to find factual accounts of what is going on in our government and with our Troops.  Neither is easy, but there are intrepid citizen journalists and bloggers out there doing their best to report the real news.  You know, news that includes facts.  (An endangered species at present.)

Since I only have had time for quick linking to interesting articles and blog posts on the Military and politics, I’ve been spending time over at Twitter and Facebook.

If you want to know where I’ve been around the net, look for me on Twitter:

or on Facebook:

Lord knows, there’s more than enough to blog about but sadly, it usually requires only the same reaction and rant again and again and again.  I get tired of writing the same thing over and over again.

And I sure as hell don’t want to revisit 2012.

So much idiocy is not good for one’s mental health or blood pressure.

So, as 2012 rolls to a close and 2013 rolls in, please just remember that our Combat Troops are still in a war zone and other service members are far from home stationed all over the world, doing good things that the media deems unimportant and of which a good majority of the country knows nothing.

If you’d like to acquaint yourself to some of the activities and experiences of our Military, go to the link below and see the slideshows of some of the best photos of 2012:

Year in photos 2012

The men and women of the U.S. military serve in operations around the world. They also are family members, athletes and sports fans who embrace life. Military photographers provide a visual record of their activities. In this review, Year in Photos 2012, we offer a selection of some of the most compelling pictures they produced.

Quite extraordinary.

Stay Strong.  Stay Safe.  Fight On.

Merry Christmas!

May you all have a loving holiday with family and friends close.

To our Military families who have their loved one far from home, may he or she come home all safe and sound to you all.

To our Gold Star families, a heart hug from all of us here, praying that the angels surround you and bring much comfort.

To the Newtown families, words of comfort and the light of a candle are tiny gestures in the shadow of your great pain, I know, so we send continuous prayers for you to be wrapped in a loving embrace in your grief.

And to all, may the New Year bring all of us peace ~ of mind, body and soul, and the strife and struggle ease.

I’ll see you on the flip side as we continue to bring light and love to dispel the dark and hate.

The Ever-Changing Role of the Military ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: ARRGGGHHHH!!, Uncategorized

And it’s not good.

We’ve seen a lot of changes concerning the military during the past couple of decades, mostly of the Politically Correct nature: sensitivity training, repeal of DADT, gender issues, iffy ROEs, fast-track promotions, the greening of the services, nation building trumping victory and dhimmitude, to name just a few.

Many good NCOs are retiring early due to frustrations with Leadership (or the lack thereof…) and the looming defense cuts in numbers and money.

We have civilian leadership with very limited Military experience leading to political grandstanding over reality-based decision-making.

We have a CinC who could care less about the Military and only pays attention when he needs a good Photo Op.  (But he loves him some drones!)

But this bit of news is over the top, if it bears out:

Proposed U.S. Army Manual Tells Soldiers To Not Criticize The Taliban, Islam, Women’s Rights, And Pedophilia

Draft Army Handbook Wades Into Divisive Afghan Issue — Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON—American soldiers should brace for a “social-cultural shock” when meeting Afghan soldiers and avoid potentially fatal confrontations by steering clear of subjects including women’s rights, religion and Taliban misdeeds, according to a controversial draft of a military handbook being prepared for troops heading to the region.

The proposed Army handbook suggests that Western ignorance of Afghan culture, not Taliban infiltration, has helped drive the recent spike in deadly attacks by Afghan soldiers against the coalition forces.

“Many of the confrontations occur because of [coalition] ignorance of, or lack of empathy for, Muslim and/or Afghan cultural norms, resulting in a violent reaction from the [Afghan security force] member,” according to the draft handbook prepared by Army researchers.

Unfortunately, you have to have a subscription to the WSJ to read the rest of the article.

But, if you have been following the nonsense coming out of DC regarding the Military over the past 2 decades, this development is not at surprising.  Many articles and papers have been written over the past couple of decades about creating a kinder and gentler Military.

Yet, there are those that know better:

Marine Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, neither endorsed the manual nor agreed to sign a foreword written in his name. “Gen. Allen did not author, nor does he intend to provide, a foreword,” a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition said. “He does not approve of its contents.”

(Read Wes Pruden’s column about this here.)

If winning hearts and minds is to be the mission and victory only comes when roads (which the libs keep screeching about here), schools (which the condition of schools here the libs keep complaining about and demanding more money for) and water systems (for libs here it’s all about infrastructure as the magic bullet for our failing economy) are built and the populace “loves” us (at great sacrifice and loss for so many of our own), then bring our Troops home and send in the Peace Corps.  They’re more suited to this CinC’s ideology, anyway.  Self-service and sacrifice for the greater good – without the collateral damage.

Besides, they don’t ‘kick down doors”, “terrify women and children” and use all those evil weapon thingies.

Wait…maybe that’s not such a good idea ~ we’d probably have to send in Special Forces to rescue them eventually.

This social engineering agenda, the mandatory cultural sensitivity classes, the rapidly spreading dhimmitude and appeasement of corrupt dictators and ludicrous Rules of Engagement are insults to the highly principled branches of our Military.  Also insulting is a CinC who only views our Troops as pawns in his ever expanding power grab.

But then, what else can one expect from a Communist-inspired, Islam-appeasing Dictator Wannabe?

Scott Holleran says it best in his recent column: War: Sacrifice for the Sake of Sacrifice

In the context of the longest war in American history – an abomination of military involvement in which very little or nothing in our interest has been accomplished – with dreadfully anti-American rules of engagement which constantly put the lives of American military members at risk, Morning Star should cease its faith-based operations or continue its selfless activities at its own risk, refusing future help from the U.S. military. With our military being decimated by the Obama administration, which seeks to cut defense spending, and the threat of foreign invaders rising, not falling, we should not risk a single soldier’s life under current rules in a primitive nation run by tribalists, warlords and religious barbarians. Be selfless on your own, and you’re free to do so, but leave our Navy SEALs and other members of our great military free to fight where they might actually be permitted to fight back and defend U.S. interests.

The Obama government, of course, sees the death of Nicolas Checque as merely another sacrifice for the sake of others – a moral directive, sacrifice of self for its own sake, that guides Obama’s administration in foreign and domestic policy. Obama’s Defense Secretary said: “In this fallen hero, and all of our special operators, Americans see the highest ideals of citizenship, sacrifice and service upheld.” And Obama, who lied about our military involvement in Afghanistan when he said we were leaving (we’re not, as I observed here), disgustingly said this of Petty Officer 1st Class Nicolas D. Checque: “He gave his life for his fellow Americans, and he and his teammates remind us once more of the selfless service that allows our nation to stay strong, safe and free,” which is also false. What allows our nation to be strong, safe and free is the opposite of selflessness: a military defense dedicated to the nation’s self-interest in its every action, including and especially rules of engagement. Our military should stop being systematically annihilated by our leaders and instead be radically and urgently repurposed to uphold the highest principle of the nation; defense of America’s self-interest.

It’s a deplorable tragedy that our Military, which has included so many of our country’s finest men and women, is infected with the noxious dogma of this corrupt government.

Go Ahead ~ Call Me An Islamophobe

Been called worse in my day.  Hell, apparently I’ve been a “racist” for the past 4 years.  I’m sure I’ve said “Chicago“, “apartment“, “anger” or “incompetent”  at least a few times during that time.

Anyway, let’s get back to “Islamophobia”.

Eric Allen Bell discusses his conversion from Liberal documentary filmmaker, out to “expose Islamophobia” to committed Counter Jihadist, fighting Political Islam. Find out what happened, why the media doesn’t get it and how to talk about the threat of Political Islam with others. Go to:

The “Mosque Confidential” Project

An estimated 80% of mosques in America are receiving some kind of support from foreign sources which are hostile to America.  That can include the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Hezbollah or worse.

Also, since 9/11, the amount of new mosque construction has nearly doubled.  The Muslim populaiton has not doubled – in fact nowhere even close.  So why is this?  The history of 1,4000 years of Islamic conquest tells us the answer.  These are victory mosques.  We were attacked on 9/11 by Political Islam and now this brutal totalitarian political ideology is claiming victory.  And they are doing so without the mainstream media holding them accountable.

So I created Mosque Confidential.  Check it out here:

American Infidel – by Eric Allen Bell – Originally published by Front Page Magazine, Here I offer some new ideas on how to use media to convey our message more effectively.  “The free world is still being infiltrated slowly, stealthily – death by a thousand cuts.  Under the guise of being “offended” and taking on the “victim” narrative, Islam inserts itself into every opening, every crack in our armor – the UN, European Sharia courts, American schools.  Like a thief in the night it slips in, slowly changing the character of America to suit its long-range objectives – to impose its designs on a civilization of distracted infidels.  And it’s working”.  The following link takes you to the blog on my Counter Jihad mulit-media site, Global Infidel TV, published on 10/26/2012
