Still Wondering Who And What We Are Fighting?

I received an email linking me to this article over at Pravda (such a quaint news source) written in 2009:

American capitalism gone with a whimper

27.04.2009

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish.

Do continue here.  (And make sure you read the comments following the article.)

Dave the only people who would believe this opinion piece are the ones who irrationally hate Obama.

Now on to the next article written in July of 2012 – even better:

The Reason Obama is President

07.11.2012

By Xavier Lerma

The reason America has the trillion dollar war monger Obama as president today is because of  immorality and materialism in America. President John Adams once said,

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” -October 11, 1798.

“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible” – George Washington.

Thomas Jefferson wrote: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

The revisionist historians have tried to “cover up” God himself by not allowing recent generations to know that America was once a nation of religious people. Now, over half the people in America are not well informed and are willing to believe the spoon fed propaganda from the Democrats and Republicans.

Let me point out firstly, I am a History Major, I am not a Democrat : I supported George Bush as Much as I support Obama because at the point in time America needed a President, they were the best options available. ( regardless of everything else, you must consider the good of the country ).

The “‘ Founding Fathers ” were Not God fearing People: they actually disliked Religion so most of those “god” quotes are pure Rubbish.

Thomas Jefferson RE-WROTE THE BIBLE in his view of how it would best serve the people.

his version is called ” The Jefferson Bible ” ” (The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth) “.

I always find it amazing how people point the finger at someone that has no control over something and blame that person……

I suppose it was Obama that was Magically created Sandy to bring Reality crashing down on Republican Falsehoods?

I agree with Lisa Karpova , it must have been computer day at the looney bin.

Sigh…

Comrades, we have so much work to do!

The Future Of Our Military ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: freedom

`

It’s not looking good.

Listen up ~ there are few Congressional parasites officials who give a good goddamm about our military.  I’ve written about this before and I’m sad to say that it is only getting worse now that the anti-American, anti-Military, anti-Liberty Soros puppet has been (allegedly) voted back in for another destructive four years ~ or more.  (We shall see about that.  It’s happened before in many Socialist countries ~ who’s to say it can’t happen here with direction this country is headed?)

There has never been so many corrupt govt shenanigans hidden, held back, stonewalled, lied about and lied about again in my lifetime.  This administration and Congress make Nixon, et al, look like amateurs.

And now that they have bamboozled over 50% of the people, there will be no stopping them.

What’s first on the list for any dictator’s regime?  Think Germany, the Soviet Union, Cuba, China and Cambodia.

First: Gun control, ie, disarming the citizenry:

Within hours of re-election, the administration fast-tracked a treaty in the United Nations that transcends borders and tramples our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. It was no coincidence.

“Only an armed people can be the real bulwark of popular liberty.”

~Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

Second: Taking down the Military:

It is now apparent Obama will be tasked with negotiating with Congress to avoid twin $500 billion cuts to planned defense and domestic spending over 10 years that would be enacted Jan. 2 unless a $1.2 trillion deficit-paring plan is enacted.

The president has said he would veto any bill that excludes new federal revenue; congressional Republicans so far have stood firm in their collective opposition to any new revenues. Will Obama give in to avoid the sequestration cuts?

“[Obama’s] strategy for reducing the budget deficit is not [well known],” says Thompson. “Since he shows little inclination to rein in entitlement programs during his second term, I have to assume defense spending will continue drifting downward as the administration seeks politically palatable ways of cutting the deficit.”

Nevermind the consistent disenfranchisement of Military Voters.

Then there are all the Generals suddenly finding themselves in ethical hotspots: General McChrystal, brought down by a hack writer at Rolling Stone magazine (I mean, really?  Rolling Stone?); General Ham, taken out during the Benghazi massacre (“Stand down” apparently wasn’t in his vocabulary.  Though no one knows for sure what actually happened there as the MEDIA WON”T DO THEIR DAMN JOB!); Rear Admiral Charles Gaouette, relieved of duty for “inappropriate leadership judgment” (Another Officer differing with the Great One’s Libya inept policies?); and of course, General Petraeus, for his affair with his biographer (Which is now NEWS! 24/7! Which keeps everyone so busy that Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the war, the economy, the job market decline etc etc etc etc from being discussed or reported. How convenient.) and General Allen, petraeus’ successor in Afghanistan, now under investigation due to emails and a connection to the woman who started the FBI’s investigation.

And let’s not forget Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley, the instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College whose course on Islamists got him fired.

Well, consider the source here ~ Marxist/Leninist/Maoist/Socialist/Communist/Statist/Progressive administration whose only talents are destruction, racial divisiveness, class warfare and lying.

They already have the media.

The Bad Just Got Worse ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: freedom, Politics

`

And I fear the worse is going to reach levels most in this country could ever imagine.

Complacency has many repercussions and elections have serious consequences.  This election outdoes them all.

What summmed up the state of this country for me was hearing that Jesse Jackson Jr, presently residing in special hospital with no word of when he’d be back at his job screwing the people, won by a landslide and Allen West, an honorable veteran who actually believes in our Constitution, is fighting for his political life in Florida against what appears more and more to be the basest corruption.

(Note to conservatives: Top of the list of to do’s ~ Take back the schools and save our kids from Public Indoctrination Camps Education.)

I just read Allen West’s weekly update and as usual he calls it as he sees it:

Dear Patriots,

Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and indeed all Americans, it is time to prepare our weekly update for dissemination. It has been a whirlwind of a week and truly a changing direction for our America.

As you all are aware, this is an official Congressional report and therefore we cannot discuss campaign related issues. Quite sure you are well aware of the current situation regarding our election.

There have been several items of concern this week which I believe are indicators of what a second term for this administration will look like.

At this moment I am watching the breaking news of the resignation of CIA Director General David Petraeus. As many of you may know this resignation is occurring the Friday before hearings are supposedly to be held next week on the Benghazi incident. General Petraeus, from a national security perspective, did the honorable thing by resignation, however I hope his leaving will not hinder getting to the truth on Benghazi. This also follows with the interestingly timely relief and retirement of USAFRICOM Commander General Carter Ham.

And that leads me to the second point, regarding Mark Basseley Youssef, the Coptic Christian immigrant from Egypt. He is the individual arrested as the culprit who unleashed Muslim anger because of a silly anti-Islam video. Not since Helen of Troy, “the face that launched a thousand ships,” have we seen one individual responsible for inciting more emotional outrage as reflected in the 11th anniversary of the September 11th Islamic terrorist attacks. He will now be serving one year for a parole violation.

Could it be that Mr. Youseef is being punished, as President Obama stated at his United Nations Assembly address, because “the future does not belong to those who insult the prophet of Islam?”

Which leads me to the next point… not only should President Obama’s statement cause us concern. We should also be concerned about the Organization of Islamic Countries who supported United Nation Resolution 1618, which would make any deemed offensive comment toward Islam an international crime.

On that note, a related United Nations issue is that within 24 hours of President Obama’s reelection, the United States signed on with another 156 other countries to the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, while Russia voted against it. This treaty which would require the United States Senate approval of a treaty which will have certain adverse effects upon our Constitutional Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Following along with more international occurrences, am I the only one who finds it odd that only days before the national elections, Iran fired upon a United States drone? The drone was operating in open airspace when two Iranian jets fired upon it. Now, why is it that we heard nothing about this until after the election? Kind of like us not knowing about a Russian attack submarine operating undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for some two months. Is this the future of our national security?

Back years ago when I was a teenager living during the administration of President Jimmy Carter, I recall the Saudi oil embargo crisis, which resulted in fuel rationing, on odd/even days. History has an impeccable way of repeating itself – just ask the folks up in New Jersey and New York. Amazing that we can send aid halfway around the globe to Indonesia and Japan, yet Americans are freezing and destitute right here, due to the incompetence of government agency relief efforts.

But you just do not hear a peep from the mainstream media on this stuff.

Lastly, I think you all now realize that the “fiscal cliff” is indeed real. It has been something that I have been discussing for quite some time and stock market behavior following the reelection of President Obama is just an indicator. The “sell-off” which has seen the Dow Jones Industrial Average drop some 430 points, 3.3%, in three days should cause concern. We are seeing individuals who recognize the fact that capital gains and dividends taxes will rise from 15% to 25% and 43.4% respectively. Money is moving away from stocks and towards bonds. The predictable economic growth of America will be horribly affected.

The misguided belief that raising taxes will solve the problem will only bring about another recession.

The President’s Fiscal Year 2013 budget called for $1.9 trillion in new taxes, but the debt grows from $16 trillion to $20 trillion in four years and to $26 trillion in ten years. Deficits never go below $900 billion and the President’s budgets never balance… but you do get a 53% increase in the growth of the federal government.

If we do not expand our tax base, lower rates, eliminate exemptions, and provide tax and monetary policy certainty we are truly heading off that cliff like Thelma and Louise.

We are dangerously close to the tipping point.

In closing, 10 November, 2012 is the 237th birthday of the greatest fighting force known to mankind, the United States Marine Corps — Semper Fidelis.

And Sunday is Veterans Day. Welcome home brothers and sisters, and God bless those of us who have taken that oath of office to serve, sacrifice, and commit to this great nation –the longest running Constitutional Republic the world has ever known, these United States of America.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen B West

>>><<<

UPDATE:  Read this and add it to the fact that tomorrow is Veterans Day.  Think about that.

There are thousands of votes yet to be counted in Florida’s Congressional District 18. That’s Congressman West’s district.

8,000 or so votes yet to count.

Those uncounted votes belong to a very important group of voters.

Those are absentee ballots, cast by our military and they sit, in boxes, not being counted.

This is beyond disgusting. This is beyond absurd.

It’s a travesty of the process upon which this country was founded.

>>><<<

We can take note and fight on or slip back into complacency and go get us some foodstamps and (mandated) death panels healthcare.

Well, at least until the money runs out.  Oh. Nevermind. Bernanke is just going to print more.  No worries then.  Yeah, that’ll work out well.

It’s your choice.

Elections and Consequences ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: freedom

Daniel Greenfield, one of my most favorite writers, has a post up that is a MUST READ for every Voter who believes in what this country stands for and wants to make sure we don’t lose her.

Finally, someone on the pro-America side of the political spectrum gets it.

Game Called on Account of Darkness

A few highlights:

Every time people ask me why the left has such a grip on this country, my answer is because they worked for it. It’s the answer that most people don’t want to hear, but it’s true. The left has been planning this for a while. They have been playing the long game, building the infrastructure and indoctrinating generations. And to beat them, we will have to do the same thing.

The right is 40 years behind the left and it remains a disorganized collection of potentials seeking a compass point. The “right” that got behind Mitt Romney consists of millionaires who want fewer regulations and easier imports from China, of social conservatives who are mainly ignored, except when voter turnout becomes an issue, libertarians who want more freedoms, and the non-ideological small business middle class and the struggling working class sensing their country and way of life slipping away from them.

<…>

This is a cultural war and living in denial of that is senseless. Those social issues? They belong on the table. Because the alternative is that the table will belong to the left and we will be stuck arguing the level of regulation that is appropriate in a society whose entire moral imperative is based on the values of regulation.

<…>

Moderation does not win elections. If you think it does, go look at the smirking face of Barack Obama. And then imagine him running for office back when Bill Ayers was building bombs. America’s new rulers were once considered far more extreme and unpopular than the Tea Party. Embracing radical and unpopular ideas is not a losing strategy. It is a short term losing strategy and a long term winning strategy so long as your ideas can be used to build a movement capable of turning those ideas into an organizing force.

<…>

The left got this far by having a plan. We will either find a plan or we will be gone. America will go the way of Latin America, with gated communities, conservative oligarchs, violent ghettos and red politicians screaming about power to the people. There will be no law, just men with guns and newspapers, and generals in convenient positions, and suitcases full of cocaine in the right hands. If you like this system, it’s probably only a generation away. Given enough immigration from south of the border– maybe less. And then California turns into Brazil and America turns into California.

DO read the entire column here.

My biggest frustration with the conservative base is the naivete it holds regarding the left. Having sat with many a Socialist/Marxist/Leninist/Communist during my younger years, I understand they mean business.  Hell, I did too at the time.  We were going to remake America in Utopia’s image and everyone was going to be happy, cared for and prosperous. (Talk about naivete.)

And building bombs and blowing up (evil capitalist) buildings was discussed frequently as a viable tactic. Or destroying infrastructure that supported all those evil energy facilities.  Yes, we were going to rid the world (eventually) of all the evil with which the fat cats and bourgeoisie infected us.

Ah, those wondrous nights of profound thoughts and planning and weekends spent in civil disobedience workshops.

Some of us took it more seriously than others ~ did you know that there were 9000 bombs set off between 1959 and 1970?

Some of us just like to protest anything that our parents believed in ~ and get laid.

I was somewhere in between.

The left have not given up on this goal.  They just took off the love beads and put on ties.

I got clean and sober and realized I didn’t like being lied to ~ and the left lies about everything.

My brain cleared and I realized I could think for myself.  The left doesn’t really like that in their followers.

It took 9/11 and my daughter enlisting in the Army for me to get my values and priorities straight.  And…I’ll be damned if I didn’t find out I was really a conservative all along.

That’s why when Obama came out as a presidential candidate in 2007 and  began to snooker all those people, I knew that the left had come a long way toward putting their well-planned agenda in play.  And when he was elected by over half the country, I knew they had won.

Now, he’s won a second time and America lost – and lost big.

And the republican party just does not get it and probably won’t until we elect people who do.

It’s no holds barred and Katy bar the door time.

Please! Please read and share!  Print it out and discuss it with friends and family.

Stop being afraid to say what you truly believe for fear of offending someone.  Their ideas should offend you if they go against your values and principles.  Stop being afraid of Not Being Nice.  They aren’t, by a long shot.  And it doesn’t matter how nice you are, they’re not going to like you anyway.  Besides, all they care about is that they are the ones who win. They do not care at all how they accomplish this goal: lying, cheating, stealing, destroying people’s lives, blowing stuff up ~ it’s all the same to them.

We need every American to understand implicitly who and what they are up against in this fight for America and all we hold dear.

Liberty is precious and not many on this planet are blessed to live in it.  We may just lose it and sooner than you care to imagine.

As Daniel Greenfield says at the beginning of his piece:

The lights have gone out in America now. They may come back. They may not. It’s up to us. No one is going to come help us do it. Other countries have America. We have ourselves.

They’re Here ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: freedom, Politics

And have been for some time.  They have finally acquired many seats of power in our government and are hellbent on destroying everything good in this country.  Unfortunately, unless you have spent time in Socialist and Marxist circles, you mostly wouldn’t recognize them.  They’re very good at hiding behind good intentions and patriotism.

Trevor Loudon has spent quite a bit of time researching and posting about the Socialists, Marxists and Communists whose agenda is to take over the government and put in place their delusional (and never successful) version of Utopia.  He has recently written a book on Obama and his communist and marxist ties: Barack Obama and the Enemies Within.

Now he is posting on those sitting in our Congress with “ties to to one or more of America’s several influential Marxist organizations”.

Loudon starts with Michigan freshman Democratic Congressman Hansen Clarke:

Communists in Congress? (1) Hansen Clarke (D) Michigan

Recently, Florida Rep. Allen West received considerable flak after claiming that there were up to eighty “communists” in the US Congress.

Rep. West was certainly correct in spirit. There are dozens of members of the US Congress who have strong ties to one or more of America’s several influential Marxist organizations.

This is the first of a series of profiles of Congress members with documentable connections to the US hard left.

Hansen Clarke (D) Michigan:

Michigan freshman Democratic Congressman Hansen Clarke represents the state’s 13th District and serves on the Homeland Security and Science, Space and Technology committees.

A former Chief of Staff to Michigan’s pro-Marxist Congressman John Conyers, Hansen Clarke seems to be following in his former mentor’s political footsteps.

Over many years, Congressman Clarke has openly aligned himself with the highly influential Detroit local of the US’ largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America.

Reaffirming a relationship that began several years ago, Congressman Clarke personally presented awards at Greater Detroit DSA’s 12th annual Frederick Douglass-Eugene V. Debs Dinner on October 1st at UAW Local 600 in Dearborn, Michigan.

Clarke presented Congressional citations to far leftist, the Reverend Ed Rowe and to the Restaurant Opportunities Center-Michigan.

Other speakers included an event regular, Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO President Saundra Williams and newly appointed DSA National Director Maria Svart.

Continue here…

There are many more and they even have their own caucus: The Congressional Progressive Caucus

What is CPC?

The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) consists of one United States Senator and seventy five members of the United States House of Representatives, and is the largest caucus within the House Democratic Caucus.  Established in 1991, the CPC reflects the diversity and strength of the American people and seeks to give voice to the needs and aspirations of all Americans and to build a more just and humane society.

The Co-Chairs of the CPC–U.S. Representatives Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) and Keith Ellison (MN-05) welcome your interest in the caucus.

Our Caucus members promote a strong, progressive agenda, what we call “The Progressive Promise–Fairness for All”.  The Progressive Promise is rooted in four core principles that embody national priorities and are consistent with the values, needs and aspirations of all the American people, not just the powerful and the privileged.  They reflect a fundamental belief in government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The four, core principles of the Progressive Promise:

1. Fighting for economic justice and security for all;

2. Protecting and preserving our civil rights and civil liberties;

3. Promoting global peace and security; and

4. Advancing environmental protection and energy independence

The CPC is committed to helping progressives, both inside and outside of Congress, to work together more effectively, in order to bring all of us closer to making good on The Progressive Promise.

Again, we appreciate your interest in the CPC and we look forward to working together to build a strong progressive network throughout America and beyond.

Remember ~ “progressive” is the present hidey/codey word for socialist, communist or marxist…depending on their political leanings.   But they all have one thing in common – get rid of our Constitution and the Founder’s exceptional idea of America.

The Progressive Promise

Fairness For All

The Congressional Progressive Caucus believes in government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Our fairness plan is rooted in our core principles. It also embodies national priorities that are consistent with the values, needs, and hopes of all our people, not just the powerful and the privileged. We pledge our unwavering commitment to these legislative priorities and we will not rest until they become law.

1. Fighting for Economic Justice and Security in the U.S. and Global Economies

» To uphold the right to universal access to affordable, high quality healthcare for all.

» To preserve guaranteed Social Security benefits for all Americans, protect private pensions, and require corporate accountability.

» To invest in America and create new jobs in the U.S. by building more affordable housing, re-building America’s schools and physical infrastructure, cleaning up our environment, and improving homeland security.

» To export more American products and not more American jobs and demand fair trade.

» To reaffirm freedom of association and enforce the right to organize.

» To ensure working families can live above the poverty line and with dignity by raising and indexing the minimum wage.

2. Protecting and Preserving Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

» To sunset expiring provisions of the Patriot Act and bring remaining provisions into line with the U. S. Constitution.

» To protect the personal privacy of all Americans from unbridled police powers and unchecked government intrusion.

» To extend the Voting Rights Act and reform our electoral processes.

» To fight corporate consolidation of the media and ensure opportunity for all voices to be heard.

» To ensure enforcement of all legal rights in the workplace.

» To eliminate all forms of discrimination based upon color, race, religion, gender, creed, disability, or sexual orientation.

3. Promoting Global Peace and Security

» To honor and help our overburdened international public servants – both military and civilian.

» To bring U. S. troops home from Iraq as soon as possible.

» To re-build U.S. alliances around the world, restore international respect for American power and influence, and reaffirm our nation’s constructive engagement in the United Nations and other multilateral organizations.

» To enhance international cooperation to reduce the threats posed by nuclear proliferation and weapons of mass destruction.

» To increase efforts to combat hunger and the scourge of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other infectious diseases.

» To encourage debt relief for poor countries and support efforts to reach the UN’s Millennium Goals for Developing Countries.

4. Advancing Environmental Protection & Energy Independence » To free ourselves and our economy from dependence upon imported oil and shift to growing reliance upon renewable energy supplies and technologies, thus creating at least three million new jobs, cleansing our environment, and enhancing our nation’s security.

» To promote environmental justice in affirmation that all people have an inherent right to a healthy environment, clean air, and clean water wherever we live, work, and relax.

» To change incentives in federal tax, procurement, and appropriation policies to:

(A) Speed commercialization of solar, biomass, and wind power generation, while encouraging state and local policy innovation to link clean energy and job creation;

(B) Convert domestic assembly lines to manufacture highly efficient vehicles, enhance global competitiveness of U.S. auto industry, and expand consumer choice;

(C) Increase investment in construction of “green buildings” and more energy-efficient homes and workplaces;

(D) Link higher energy efficiency standards in appliances to consumer and manufacturing incentives that increase demand for new durable goods and increase investment in U.S. factories;

» To eliminate environmental threat posed by global warming and ensuring that America does our part to advance an effective global problem-solving approach.

» To expand energy-efficient transportation choices by increasing investment in synthesized networks, including bicycle, local bus and rail transit, regional high-speed rail and magnetic levitation rail projects.

» To preserve prudent public interest regulations that encourage sustainable growth and investment, ensure energy diversity and system reliability, protect workers and the environment, reward consumer conservation, and support an expanding marketplace that rewards the commercialization of energy-efficient technologies.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?  What they don’t post on their site is how they will attain all these lofty goals ~ or how they will pay for all of this. Basically, the bottom line is they will legislate more and more laws and regulations to control every aspect of your life, beating you down until the word “liberty” will be cast into the bin of archaic philosophies.

They will choose what food you eat, what area you can live in, what type of dwelling you’ll live in, where your kids will go to school, what they will learn there, what kind of car you can drive, if they don’t outlaw cars altogether, what you can discuss and where you can discuss it, who you can gather with and where, what healthcare you can receive and where, what kind of work you can do and how much you will be paid, and church?  Maybe.  Maybe not.

It has already begun and most people don’t even realize just how much of their goal has been attained.

If you love America as it was intended, please watch for further posts from Trevor Loudon and spend some time at his website informing yourself of what is actually going on in this great country of ours.  The media is only telling you what the State wants you to know.  Fight back with factual knowledge and your vote.

We ARE under attack by people who call themselves American, but are so very far from being such.

Patting Themselves On Their Own Backs ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: freedom, Supporting the troops

The First Lady and Dr. Biden at the Joining Forces Anniversary yesterday:

Remarks by the First Lady and Dr. Biden at the Joining Forces Anniversary event

DR. BIDEN:  What a great day for a celebration.  Thank you, General Dempsey, for that kind introduction and for all that you have done to support the Joining Forces initiative over the past year.  I also want to thank Deanie Dempsey, who’s been a wonderful partner and a wonderful friend.  Thank you for your leadership.  (Applause.)

To the Joining Forces Community Challenge finalists who are here, it was great to see you all yesterday, and we’re delighted to have you here at the White House this morning.

One of the best parts of my role as Second Lady is spending time with military veterans and families.  And I’ve traveled across the — as I’ve traveled across the country and the world, I’m always inspired by the strength and the resilience of our military families.

While the troops serving our nation may be only 1 percent of the population, we want to make sure that 100 percent of Americans are supporting them.  Our military families have done so much for our country and each of us can do something in return.  That’s why the First Lady and I created Joining Forces to encourage all Americans to support and honor our military families.

Since we launched Joining Forces a year ago, we have been so inspired by the many ways Americans all across the country are honoring, celebrating and supporting our military families.  Our partners in this effort are businesses, schools, churches, communities and individuals.  The Joining Forces Community Challenge finalists here today are shining examples of what we’ve seen.

Organizations like HeartsApart.org — photographers volunteer their time to take photos of soon-to-be deployed servicemembers and their families.  And so that they can carry their loved ones when they are serving us, these beautiful photographs are printed on waterproof, durable cards that fit perfectly in the pocket of a battle dress uniform.

Programs like GreenCare for Troops, which connects local green industry professionals with military families to provide free lawn and landscaping services while their loved ones are serving our country.

Or the city of Richfield, Utah, an entire community that has supported its local Army National Guard through four deployments since September 11, 2001.  They’ve organized a community-sponsored holiday party for the families of deployed troops.  The local newspaper delivers the hometown paper to deployed soldiers so that they can stay in touch with home.  And the community library ordered children’s books about deployment so that children will understand what their parents are doing while they are away.

These are just a few examples of what is happening all across our country.  If I had to sum up what we have seen since launching Joining Forces in one word, it would be “inspiring.”  These efforts aren’t always in the headlines, but they support our military families every single day in real and meaningful ways.  That’s exactly what the First Lady and I set out to accomplish with Joining Forces.

So please, let’s give a round of applause for all the Challenge winners who are here with us today.  (Applause.)

I am also proud to announce that after the wonderful response this first year, we will start another challenge later this year.  We look forward to seeing more of the creative ways that Americans are giving back to our proud and brave military families.

And now it is my great pleasure to introduce an amazing, young woman.  I met Moranda Hern two years ago when she came to my office to tell me what it was like for her when her dad was deployed to Afghanistan.  She was going through all the challenges of being a teenager with the added burden of worrying every day about her father’s safety.

Moranda’s dad is in the California National Guard, so she didn’t have the support of a military community and she felt disconnected from her peers.  When Moranda met another military teen, she realized she wasn’t alone.  The girls created a support network called The Sisterhood of the Traveling BDUs* — to make sure other military girls had a way to share their experiences with one another.  Today the Sisterhood connects military girls through an online community and is expanding nationwide.

Moranda is here today as a military daughter and the founder of an initiative that has made a real difference in the lives of military children.  Now, as you can see, she wears a uniform herself.  She is pursuing her dream of becoming a pilot as a sophomore at the United States Air Force Academy.

I’m so proud to introduce Moranda Hern.  Thank you very much.  (Applause.)

MRS. OBAMA:  Thank you, everyone.  Please be seated.  Welcome.  Welcome to the White House.  And happy anniversary.

I want to begin by thanking Moranda for that lovely introduction.  But she is the reason why we do this.  I mean, enough said.  There are thousands of amazing kids like her all over this country that need to have this light shined on them.  So we are so proud of you, so very proud of you — and the others like you.  So keep it up.

I also want to recognize Tom Brokaw, who has been such an advocate for our men and women in uniform.  He has been amazing. And we are privileged to have him with us today and have his voice out there so passionately on behalf of families and troops.

Of course, I want to thank General Dempsey and Deanie.  They have just been amazing partners.  I think I spend more time with you all than I do my husband — (laughter) — which isn’t bad, isn’t bad, not too bad.  But they have just been tremendous.  And I can’t thank you both enough for what you have done for this country, what you are doing and I know you will continue to do for the rest of your lives.  So we wouldn’t be here without you.

And of course, I want to thank my partner in crime, Dr. Jill Biden.  She is, as you know, a proud military mom, very passionate.  She is really just a tremendous friend, just a true inspiration for me.  This would not be as much fun if I didn’t have her by my side.  And she has done just an amazing job, and we need to give her another round of applause.  (Applause.)

And of course, I want to join Jill in congratulating the winners of the Joining Forces Community Challenge.  We are so happy that all of you have been able to come and travel here to D.C.  And you’ve been spending a little time in the city.  I understand that there was a wonderful reception and roundtable yesterday that I missed, but I hear was just wonderful.  And you’ve been able to get some tours around town.  I hope everybody has been nice.  And there’s going to be a luncheon for you all today.  So, hopefully, the food will be good.

But we are just thrilled to have you in our nation’s backyard to congratulate and honor all that you’re doing.  So thank you again.

I also want to recognize Congressman Al Green who is here. San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro is here as well.  Thank you both for being here.  And, finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to be here this morning.

We have many people in the audience.  We have our troops and military families here, but we also have government and military leaders, business and nonprofit leaders, leaders from our faith communities, our schools, our hospitals, our veterans’ service organizations and so many others.  And I am thrilled that all of you could be here today as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Joining Forces.

Now, I have to tell you that when Jill and I first started talking about launching this initiative to honor and support our veterans and military families, we knew that we were going to get a pretty good amount of support, because after all, every American is proud of our men and women in uniform.  So we knew that the emotion was there; we knew that the feelings were there.  So we knew we were going to get some support, because we all want to show our gratitude for their service.

But the outpouring of support that we have seen over this last year — I mean, the hours logged, the services donated, the love and devotion and offers to help that have poured in from every corner of the country — all of that has far surpassed even our wildest expectations.  And that’s a good thing.

And I tell military families all around, that’s really what we want you to know, is that you do live in a grateful nation, and when people are asked on your behalf they are stepping up and they are doing it gladly.  Over the past year, more than 1,600 businesses have hired more than 50,000 veterans and spouses, and they pledged to hire at least 160,000 more in the coming years.  And I know they’re going to do even more than that — that’s just the pledges that we’ve gotten.

Technology and employment companies like Google, Monster and LinkedIn, they have stepped up to help connect veterans with good jobs.  We’ve had state leaders that are passing legislation to make it easier for military spouses to renew their professional licenses and get back to work as their families move from state to state.  And we hope that we’re going to see that kind of initiative throughout the country.

Medical schools are training our next generation of health care providers so that they can better care for our military families.  The Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Treasury, Labor, they have all made groundbreaking announcements to support our nation’s veterans, our wounded warriors, our caregivers and our military spouses.

Associations of doctors, nurses, physician’s assistants and social workers, they’re working to improve the treatment that they provide for Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries.

School professionals are reaching out to our military kids in ways that are so important.  High schools have — with high numbers of military students — are adding more Advanced Placement courses so that these kids have the opportunities they deserve to compete for college.

If you watch TV, you’ve seen all of the activity on the airwaves.  TV shows like “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, “Sesame Street” — our favorites — (laughter) — and organizations like NASCAR, AOL, Disney, they’re all sharing stories of military families and using those stories not just to shine a light, but to encourage others to serve.

You’ve got wonderful people like Tom Hanks, Oprah, Steven Spielberg — they starred in a series of very powerful PSAs.  And then, of course, the episode that has made me a fan favorite in every household — I am now more popular than the President  — because I was on “iCarly.”  (Laughter.)  There are kids who probably didn’t know I was First Lady, but they know I was on “iCarly.”  (Laughter.)  And that episode — they focused the entire episode on the experience of military children.  It was wonderful.  It really got the message out to young people in a way that we could never do on our own.

So over the past year, not a single person that we’ve talked to, that we have approached, has told us that they could not help — not a single person.  We’ve asked; they said yes.
And the good thing is, is that once people get started, they just keep coming up with new ideas on their own.  We’ll present something, and they double it.  They want to do even more.  They just keep raising their goals even higher.  They just keep figuring out how to get more and more people involved.

A wonderful example is Operation Honor Cards.  It’s a wonderful initiative that asks Americans to honor our military families by pledging service of their own.  And when we first sat down with this organization last year, they set a goal of getting 3 million hours of pledge service from people all across the country.  But then what happened was that by June, they had already doubled that number; and then by November, they hit 10 million hours — just by November.  And today, we can announce that we’re at 21 million hours pledged — 21 million hours pledged — with already 30 million total hours served.  (Applause.)

Now, that’s really the story of Joining Forces.  That’s what we are celebrating today.  That’s truly what is going on through Joining Forces.  It is the story of a wave of support that spreads across this country, and it’s reaching more communities every single day.

But the real impact of Joining Forces over this past year truly cannot be measured just by a list of accomplishments.  It can’t be explained with numbers or hours or dollar amounts.  The true measure of our success lies in the lives that we’ve helped to change — all of us, everyone here — those lives, all those moms and dads out there, all of those sons and daughters, like Moranda, all the grandparents who have felt the love and the support of a grateful nation.

They are heroes like my good buddy, Johnny Agbi — Sergeant Agbi.  He’s quite a character; got to spend some time with him.  He was wounded in Afghanistan, and he’s here with us today.  And thanks to Sears and Rebuild Together, who worked together to refit his house for his wheelchair — and Jill and I got to write on his wall — I hope our signatures are still there.  Are they there?  (Laughter.)  All right, that’s good.  We got to write on his wall.  But thanks to their efforts, Sergeant Agbi can now more easily get in his front door — something as simple as that.  He can now move around his home more freely.  And hopefully, everything feels just a little bit more like home again.

They are spouses like Ann Wells, who Jill and I got to meet.  She’s a nurse who, because of the licensing portability efforts in the states may not have to deal with so much bureaucracy the next time her family moves and she needs to recertify before she can get a job.

They are veterans like Joshua Rassi, from Beaverton, Oregon.  Now, in 2007, Sergeant Rassi joined the Army and was trained as a geospatial analyst — you guys probably know what that is, right?  You Joint Chief types, right?  He was deployed to Iraq, where he was in charge of securing convoys, checking roads for IEDs.  He managed many, many soldiers, communicating detailed information throughout his unit.  But when he left active duty in May of 2010, he couldn’t find consistent work.  He couldn’t find consistent work back home.  For more than a year he was out of consistent work.  This highly trained soldier applied everywhere, but his searches ended in frustration.

Then last September, he went to one of the Chamber of Commerce’s hiring fairs in Portland.  And the Red Cross liked what they saw at this fair.  And within a week, Sergeant Rassi had started a new job with the Red Cross as a lab technician.  And he has been working for six months.  And he is thankful not just for the income, not just because his skills are no longer idle, but because it gives him an opportunity to keep giving back to the country that he loves.

And, as he said — and these are his words — he said, “Part of the reason I joined the military was getting to serve, and at the Red Cross I’m doing the same thing.  My big thing in life is making a difference.”  And that’s how deeply ingrained service is to our men and women in uniform.  That is the greatness that we all feel when we travel the country.  That’s why you guys hook us in.  It is that ethic of service.  It’s that commitment to this country that we want to honor through Joining Forces.

I always say if all of our young people could just get a little dose of what you all have, then they would be just fine.  Just fine.  This effort is about making an impact.  It is about repaying our debt to our veterans and military families.  It’s about giving these heroes the opportunities they deserve.

But I want to be clear that we are not here to pat ourselves on the back.  We’re not here just to throw a nice party or to list our accomplishments.  We’re here to really, truly make a difference for these families who have put everything on the line for all of us.  So while today is certainly a time for celebration, it’s also a time to renew our call of action.  That’s why we’d like to mark the sand with an anniversary, because it’s time to say this is what we’ve done, but there is so much more to do.  It’s time for us to redouble our efforts.

So today, I want to challenge all of you here, and I want to challenge Americans all across the country, to keep raising the bar, just keep raising the bar.  Keep bringing more people into the fold — the fold of Joining Forces, the fold of whatever it is you are doing, keep bringing people in.  Keep coming up with new ideas.

And one message to all of the military families here today and watching around the country:  I want you to know that these are not just words.  We are not giving out empty promises — not on my watch, not on Jill’s watch.  We’re going to keep working until all of our veterans know that when they hit the job market, their skills be rewarded.  We’re not stopping until every military student gets an educational experience that honors their service.  We’re not calling it a day until all of our military spouses can rest assured that the next time their family is transferred, they won’t have to leave their job behind.

And we’re going to keep working.  We’re going to keep persuading.  We’re going to keep driving forward until all of our nation’s military families feel in real and concrete ways the love and support and gratitude that we all hold in our hearts.  That is our simple promise to you.  And it is one of the best things that we all do with our time.

And as Tom said, this is a forever proposition.  This is not a blue state or red state proposition.  This is something that we want to make a part of the culture of the United States of America, that every citizen feels this level of gratitude and finds some way to give something back.  And if we can do our part by shining a light on this effort, then we will continue to do that.

So I want to thank you all for everything that you have done, for leading the way in your communities across this country.  Keep it going.  We are so proud of all of you.  We are grateful.  So God bless you all.  And God bless the United States of America.  Enjoy the rest of your time here in Washington.  (Applause.)

****************

You know, there were (and still are) a helluva lot of people showing their support and gratitude for our Troops long before “Joining Forces” came into being.  Non-military folks starting right there in their livingrooms, working hard to gather donations and cards from their communities and packing boxes and more boxes to ship overseas.  Many of them spending their own money to do so.  Others started organizations to help the wounded warriors and their families.  A lot of money was raised privately to help families fly to Walter Reed or Brooks or Bethesda hospital.  Other money was raised to help our troops after they came home ~ all independent of any government-sponsored and Obama-blessed programs.

People quietly stepping up and spending long hours and money to make sure our Troops knew they were remembered and appreciated ~ not wanting any fanfare or awards ~ but because they cared.  Many doing so for over a decade ~ longer in some cases.

That is what this administration and far too many politicians don’t get about the compassion and independent spirit of Americans.  We don’t need the guvmint to tell us to give of ourselves.  And we certainly don’t do it to pat ourselves on our backs.

So I would like to give my thanks to all the so very giving and nameless people who have quietly and unceasingly supported our Military throughout the years.  Though I may not know you (though I do know many), you are all special to me.

Liberty Quotes

“We used to be a free people. Now we are hedged in by millions of laws. Harassed by a plague of opportunistic lawyers. Harmed by regulations meant for our protection. Unnecessarily taxed to pay for a suffocating bureaucracy. Drowning in petty paperwork. Stifled by “rights” that rarely benefit anyone.”

“Today, of course, the redistributive powers of Congress are everywhere — except in the Constitution. The result is the feeding frenzy that is modern Washington, the Hobbesian war of all against all as each tries to get his share and more of the common pot the tax system fills. … It is unseemly and wrong. More than that, it is unconstitutional, whatever the slim and cowed majority on the New Deal Court may have said.”

Some posts about dry runs towards a fascist government:

Obama Administration to Top Pharmaceutical Exec Howard Solomon: You’re Fired

The “action against the CEO of Forest Labs is a game changer,” said Richard Westling, a corporate defense attorney in Nashville who has represented executives in different industries against the government.

According to Mr. Westling, “It would be a mistake to see this as solely a health-care industry issue. The use of sanctions such as exclusion and debarment to punish individuals where the government is unable to prove a direct legal or regulatory violation could have wide-ranging impact.”

Read it all here.

Anyone who has a business should be at the very least, incredulous and more to the point outraged.  Glad to see that Forest Labs is fighting back.

(PJM Exclusive) Holder’s DOJ Scuttled More Terror-Related Prosecutions

It’s been a wild two weeks since my exclusive Pajamas Media article revealing that political appointees at the Department of Justice had scuttled pending terror finance indictments of several prominent Islamic leaders as part of the Holy Land Foundation case, including Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) co-founder Omar Ahmad. A high-placed DOJ source told me the case was nixed to prevent embarrassment to the Obama administration and to avoid inflaming the Muslim community. House Homeland Security Committee chairman Rep. Peter King then sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder demanding answers about why these prosecutions were stopped.

Continue….

Must be because they are so confused as to who are the actual terrorists.  Someone needs to send them to Islamafascist 101.

Cultivating the Seeds of Knowledge; Growing a Greener Future for our Nation

Led by the Department of Education, in close partnership with the EPA and CEQ, the Green Ribbon Schools program will incentivize and reward schools that help to ensure that our students receive an education second to none by improving the health and environmental footprint of nation’s schools. To prepare our children for the clean energy economy of the future, Green Ribbon schools will be those that incorporate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and environmental stewardship into their curricula.

Read the post here.

Let’s recruit more Green Shirts in our public schools!!  Then they can grow up to be really obnoxious adults who demand you do what they tell you to or you’re in Big Trouble, Mister!

And it’s not only schools….

Going Green – Eco-Friendly Installations

As part of the Army’s overall effort to conserve precious resources, the Army Reserve will now have facilities that will reduce the amount of waste it produces – by only using the energy it can generate.

This pilot program will be using net zero installations. Net zero means that these installations will consume only as much energy or water as they produce and eliminate solid waste to landfills.

Lord love a duck ~ Continue here.  Apparently, the civilian bosses of our Military feel that the focus of our troops should be on environmentalists’ wet dreams, tolerance (of a special few designated by an elite few), diversity (too many white folks in uniform getting promoted) and winning hearts and minds (of the enemy).

Anything but what warriors are trained to do.

But let’s not stop at Teh Religion of Gaia…

Atheists Seek Chaplain Role in the Military

Strange as it sounds, groups representing atheists and secular humanists are pushing for the appointment of one of their own to the chaplaincy, hoping to give voice to what they say is a large — and largely underground — population of nonbelievers in the military.

Read the article here and then go on over to Blackhawk to read their post on this.

Dear lord, if anyone gives this nonsensical, looney-tune concept a moment of serious thought, that person needs some serious help, asap.

And of course, the media is in lockstep ~ smear the Military:

A Beast in the Heart of Every Fighting Man — New York Times

Of course, while the murders in southern Afghanistan reflect most glaringly upon the men who committed them, the need to revisit these crimes goes beyond questions of culpability and motive in one platoon. As with Abu Ghraib and Haditha and My Lai, it’s hard not to consider how such acts also open a window onto the corroding conflicts themselves. This isn’t to suggest that military personnel are behaving similarly throughout Afghanistan as a result of the conditions there; it is only to say that 10 years into an unconventional war whose end does not appear imminent, the murder of civilians by troops that are supposed to be defending them might reveal more than the deviance of a few young soldiers in a combat zone.

Read the rest here.  My Lai is even brought up to make this writer’s point of deviance and murderous intent of our Troops.

(h/t  War News Update)

As WNU points out, this story was published on the same day that eight coalition Troops were murdered in Kabul:

Officials say an Afghan military pilot has opened fire on foreign troops in Kabul, killing eight coalition service members and a contractor, in the deadliest such incident since the war began in 2001.

<…>

Wednesday’s incident was the latest in a series of attacks by members of Afghan security forces or someone wearing one of their uniforms.

Earlier this month, an Afghan border guard shot and killed two U.S. soldiers in northern Faryab province. In February, a person wearing an Afghan army uniform killed three German soldiers and wounded six others in Baghlan province.

And last November, an Afghan border policeman killed six U.S. troops during a training mission in eastern Afghanistan.

The Gray Lady has gone senile – time to put her out to pasture.

This is not healthy for all living things and children.
