Will They Ever Really Care?

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: Uncategorized

There are wonderful people in this country doing wonderful things.  This post is not about them.

Maybe I should write about those people more since the media doesn’t seem to know that they even exist, but it’s so damn hard when you have things like the following going on.  Besides, blogging is a kind of therapy for me ~ after living in California for over 25 years, my tolerance margins has been narrowed considerably and my cynicism on the human race has been expanded ten-fold.  (It was pretty wide to begin with…there’s a reason I don’t come down off my ridge much.  And muckraking has always been second nature to me.  Hypocrisy and lies don’t sit well with me.)

So, about the not wonderful people:

Brooklyn Co-Op To PTSD War Vet: Get Rid Of Your Service Dog

Co-op boards trying to evict residents for things like smoking and four-legged tenants are nothing new, but trying to remove an Afghanistan war vet and his family because of the adorable shih tzu he uses to deal with PTSD? That’s low, Trump Village in Coney Island.

Adding a bit of intrigue to the whole thing is the fact that this all began just as Ovsishcher’s wife, a certified public accountant, decided to run for the building’s co-op board. Hmmm!

Meanwhile, Ovsishcher—a Russian immigrant who spent seven years in the Army, first with NATO troops in Kosovo and then firing 105-millimeter howitzer cannons in Afghanistan—and his wife and kids are vowing to fight to keep Mickey, who has reportedly been a real balm to the vet’s psyche. For example:

What? Harassing folks displaying flags wasn’t working anymore so now it’s a vet’s dog?

Senate Approves National PTSD Awareness Day – May 30,2012

Washington – The United States Senate has unanimously approved legislation authored by Senator Kent Conrad designating June 27, 2012 as National PTSD Awareness Day.

The event is part of Senator Conrad’s continuing efforts tobring greater awareness to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a severe anxiety disorder often associated with having experienced the trauma of combat.

“National PTSD Awareness Dayshould serve as an opportunity for all of us to listen and learn about post-traumatic stress and let all our troops — past and present — know it’s okay to come forward and ask for help,” Senator Conrad said.

Read it all.

Isn’t that sweet?  Now they can all pat themselves on the back and proclaim they really, really care about the veterans in their press briefs (with photo-ops surrounded by Vets included.)

How about spending less time preening and more time getting the VA system fixed so it can actually treat our Vets in a timely manner (like within a week at the most) and hiring doctors who will do more than just throw numerous drug cocktails at our Vets?

U.S. must stop using China’s fake military parts

By Alan Tonelson

While addressing West Point’s newest graduates last weekend, Vice President Joseph R. Biden praised the gathered cadets as “leaders of your generation” and “the key to whatever challenges the world has in store.”

For full disclosure’s sake, Mr. Biden should have added: “For the foreseeable future, however, the advanced weapons and military systems you’ll use in training and in combat will remain shot through with unreliable counterfeit electronics parts.

“These mislabeled components can fail without warning, or carry spyware and malware. And they will keep threatening American security – and your lives – largely because your political leaders don’t want to disrupt economic ties with the biggest counterfeiter by far – China.”

U.S. Business and Industry Council research shows that as of 2010, products from China controlled nearly 28 percent of the total U.S. market for a huge group of civilian electronic components widely used in U.S. defense goods. This Chinese market share has roughly tripled since 1997.

Lovely.  As long as they can save a few bucks on defense (which is in the Constitution) and have it for their pet entitlement programs (which is not in the Constitution), it’s all good.  What’s a few lost military folks when it comes to food stamps and Pell grants?

It’s an election year, so the trumpets are going to be sounding loud and long about all the Suits are doing for our Vets.  Unfortunately, it’s going to be a lot of talk and toothless resolutions, as usual.

But then, it’s easy to sound grandiose while sitting in a temperature-controlled office surrounded by security and people paid to do your bidding.

This country has had Veterans for over

Rolling Thunder in DC ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: Veterans

I love Rolling Thunder and miss being a part of it since the local chapter kind of fell apart. It’s a wonderful and important event that should be experienced by everyone at least once.  The Candlelight Vigil at The Wall is one experience I’ll never forget ~ standing silently as the Gold Star Mothers walk past us and the candle flames reflect back from The Wall and float into the dark.

Meeting some of the nicest people ever and watching (through teary eyes) the hugs between men and women who may not know each other but definitely hold a special bond.

This year was the 25th Ride To The Wall and looked to be one of the best.

Nancy Sinatra is a long time supporter:

SINATRA: Why Rolling Thunder?

For many years following my USO tour, I was looking for some way to continue to help our troops and veterans, and I needed to share with someone the profound feelings I came away with after seeing war firsthand. When Artie Muller invited me to join Rolling Thunder, I jumped at the opportunity to serve again, especially with this dedicated group of people. They work tirelessly to see to it that every last one of our soldiers, sailors, Marines, pilots, Coast Guard members and nurses are accounted for and that returning veterans are welcomed properly, with respect and the care they deserve.

Gary Sinise was there with the Lt Dan Band.  Yeah!!

YouTube has tons of videos from this year’s ride.

Brief Obama meet for Rolling Thunder delegation this year

Rolling Thunder made it to the White House this year. But the experience for the motorcycle-riding patriots was more clinical photo op than heartfelt meeting with President Obama, members of the group said Friday.

“Well, we had a good meeting with [Mr. Obama’s] staff and a defense official. But we were supposed to have time with the president,” founder and Executive National Director Artie Muller told The Washington Times in an interview after the meeting.

“When we were there in the past, the president himself talked to us about the issues that concern us — veterans’ health care, the fate of prisoners of war, and those missing in action. This was more or less a handshake and a photo op for the White House — and that’s all it was,” Mr. Muller said.

Why am I not surprised…

And it was the 10th year for The Lone Marine.  Apparently, this year two Marines came up to him and asked if they could join him in saluting the Vets.  Dayum, I’d have loved to have seen that!

I was privileged to meet Sgt XXV and a finer person you’d never meet.

Saga of the Saluting Marine

Tim Chambers admits to an “overabundance of enthusiasm.” In his 15-year Marine Corps career, that enthusiasm served him well, leading to his series of Forrest Gump–like experiences. “You can get anywhere with enthusiasm,” said Chambers. Like onto the median of Washington’s 23rd Street in Marine dress blues during Rolling Thunder in 2002, snapping a salute to the bikers rolling by. Despite myriad challenges, Chambers hasn’t missed a Rolling Thunder since, becoming somewhat of a legend who is recognized by millions.

Do read it all and be so very thankful he’s one of our ours!

One of the best videos on Rolling Thunder and Sgt Tim Chambers

In Sgt Chambers words, “I do this for the pain, It’s all about the pain. A lot of these guys still hurt and if I can relieve their pain through mine just for one brief moment, then I’ve done my job.”

The Salute – Celebrating Service

Former Marine Staff Sergeant Tim Chambers is known for his Lone Marine long salute. He stands at attention in dress uniform for three to five hours during the Rolling Thunder demonstration held in Washington, D.C., each Memorial Day.

Well done, Marine!!

If it were just ignorance, it would be one thing.  But this guy is supposed to be intelligent and informed.  (I bet his fingernails are manicured and his palms have no calluses.)  I mean you can go through life sheltered from the harsher realities of life ~ such as being trapped in a burning building or losing a child.  (I bet he has a special mirror that he looks at himself in.) Still, you can talk with people who have experienced the harsher things in life ~ like WAR.  (I doubt he has ever held an air pistol, much less a weapon.)  You can also read about what men and women have gone through while in WAR.  Lots of books out there, the Military Channel, the History Channel and now terrific websites where you can actually watch videos of the actual person talking about what they went through or listen to a battle buddy talking about his fallen comrades in arms.  (He seems to know really big words, so we know he can read.)

But then it is MSNBC.

Watch here: Really, it’s frightening in the Dear-heavens-he’s-one-of-the-educated way.

Good lord, even with the I-will-use-impressive-vocabulary thang going on, his thoughts seem to have a hard time making their way out of his mouth.  (Ah, there’s no teleprompter.  Just someone jabbering into his earpiece there.  Apparently a bit distracting for the poor fellow.  Couldn’t even get the Lt Col’s name correct.)

CHRIS HAYES: Thinking today and observing Memorial Day, that’ll be happening tomorrow.  Just talked with Lt. Col. Steve Burke [sic, actually Beck], who was a casualty officer with the Marines and had to tell people [inaudible].  Um, I, I, ah, back sorry, um, I think it’s interesting because I think it is very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words “heroes.” Um, and, ah, ah, why do I feel so comfortable [sic] about the word “hero”?  I feel comfortable, ah, uncomfortable, about the word because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war. Um, and, I don’t want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone that’s fallen, and obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism: hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic. But maybe I’m wrong about that.

Yes, Chris Hayes, you are so very wrong about that.

But buck up, realizing and identifying your problem is half the battle.

Another day, another VA hearing ~

If you ever wondered what all the bitching from our Vets is about regarding the VA (and you should),  go to the link below and read the report, Interim Committee Staff Report: Investigation of Joint Disability Evaluation System and the opening statements from those supposedly in charge of this area:

Seamless Transition: Review of the Integrated Disability Evaluation System

You will also find a link to the committee’s hearing archived video there.  It’s really worth the watch, especially if you  believe in supporting our guys and gals even after they come home.  Of course, you will probably find yourself throwing things at your TV, so be warned.

With all the appeasing, apologizing, political grandstanding and downright stupidity coming from this administration surrounding our Military, thankfully, we have Rep. West speaking up for our Troops.

Allen West’s letter to Obama over released terrorist:

Stealth Islamic Propaganda Shown to Six Million American Students

On May 16 and 17 of 2012, Channel One Network, a national distributor of educational videos and newscasts viewed daily by over 8,000 middle and high schools, aired a two-part video series, titled “Young and Muslim in America” and “Islam in America.”

What is not revealed is that Mr. Sifaat is a political activist serving as a chapter president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), one of the most radical Muslim Brotherhood front groups in America.

I’m so glad my daughter is in the Army now.  She had more than enough indoctrination from the public schools in CA.  We’re thinking homeschooling for my grandson.

Read this about how the left is trying to eradicate homeschooling by lying, as usual:

Take your blood pressure meds first:

The U.S. military’s ‘anti-Islam classes’

Just listen to the first 5 minutes of this ostensibly reasoned and credible attempt by “Inside Story Americas” to cast military training materials on Islam as a blight on the American ideals of tolerance, acceptance and multiculturalism. The reporters announce their discovery of “The Outlawed Brief” as if the training materials represent a clandestine attempt to foster discrimination against Muslims and NOT an appropriate and necessary response to a real threat.

Wonderful Organization ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: Veterans

Being the daughter of a Funeral Directer and WWII Vets (Mom and Dad both), this has bothered me since I learned that there are so many unclaimed remains of veterans sitting in storage at funeral homes across the country.

I was thrilled when I discovered that there are people working very hard to find them.

Veterans forgotten no more

Since 2006, a group of volunteers called the Missing in America Project has been looking for people such as Andrews. Funeral homes all over the country have unclaimed cremated remains in storage; in some cases, laws have prevented the remains from being disposed of, or the funeral homes have decided to hold on to the remains out of respect for the dead.

Some of those remains are decades old. Some are the remains of veterans.

The project’s volunteers contact the funeral homes searching for veterans. They deserve proper burials, say the volunteers and those who have worked to help the project.

“These are people who have served their country … and they’re sitting on a shelf somewhere,” said Thomas Moe, director of the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, who has testified in Congress for a law making it easier to identify and bury the remains.

At the cemetery, an honor guard fired a rifle volley, a bugler played taps, flags were presented. And when it was all over, the woman who found these forgotten veterans last year sighed.

“They’re finally home,” Chastity Booth said.

Do read the rest here.

Missing in America Project

The initial focus of the MIA Project will be a massive, nation-wide effort to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed remains of forgotten veterans. This task will be executed through the combined, cooperative efforts of members of the American Legion, other volunteer service and veteran organizations, local Funeral Homes, State Funeral Commissions, State and National Veterans Administration Agencies, and the State and National Veterans Cemetery Administrations. Local, state and national laws must be followed in the identification, claiming process and proper interment of the unclaimed remains of forgotten veterans.

This will be a lengthy project and will require many man-hours to ensure that we have done our utmost to discover every forgotten veteran and procure each a dignified resting place. This will also be a labor of love, a task of redemption, for a debt of service that can never be repaid.

The second phase of the MIA Project will be the creation of a network of individuals working with local Funeral Homes, State, and National Agencies to ensure that, from now on, the cremated remains of any unclaimed veteran will be identified, claimed and interred in a timely manner. This will be an ongoing project and will most likely be a cooperative effort between many voluntary service organizations.

The MIA Project will be a long-term project, but not a time sensitive project.

Total Funeral Homes Visited  – 2242   Cremains Found – 13800*

Veterans Cremains Identified – 1898    Veterans Interred – 1631

* 3500  of these Cremains were found in one institution

*2600 more names recently received from two funeral homes in Missouri

Please check out MIAP and share their info with anyone who might benefit from their efforts.

May they all finally find rest among their brothers and sisters.

Memorial Day 2012 – THE OTHER ONE PERCENT

Written by Bob Hamer

Earlier this month I stood with a gathering of heroes under a cloudless Southern California sky. It was a typical Chamber of Commerce-type day in Oceanside, a few miles from the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton, just north of San Diego. The sun was creeping toward its noon peak and a cool ocean breeze made for a comfortable morning. More than sixty Marines in their dress blue uniforms stood in formation off to the side of a flag pole; the family seated to the front. As much as the Navy chaplain tried to call this a celebration of life, it was a memorial service for a fallen hero; far too many tears for a celebration. A thirty-year-old Marine staff sergeant, on his third combat deployment, died two weeks earlier in Afghanistan, the victim of the terrorist’s weapon of choice, the improvised explosive device, an IED. He left a wife, parents, friends, and fellow Marines.

Yes, Sir. Yes, indeed.

Abdo convicted in Fort Hood bomb plot

Verdict came say day testimony wrapped up

ANGELA K. BROWN,Associated Press

WACO, Texas (AP) — A federal jury on Thursday convicted an AWOL Muslim soldier of attempting to blow up a Texas restaurant full of Fort Hood troops.

The Waco jury convicted Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo of the most serious charge, attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, which could land him in prison for life. Abdo also was convicted of attempted murder of U.S. officers or employees, and four counts of possessing a weapon in furtherance of a federal crime of violence.

In a recorded police interview, Abdo said he was planning to pull off an attack in the Fort Hood area “because I don’t appreciate what my unit did in Afghanistan.”

More here…

I don’t think we can put this one on PTSD.

Jawa Report has more:

Cornhole Watch: Waco: Domestic Terrorist Pfc. Nasser Abdo Found Guilty in Ft Hood Bomb Plot

Sentencing is set for the summer.

…with a link to Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser: Pfc Nasser Abdo is an unmitigated traitor to the United States

“The American Islamic Forum for Democracy is pleased at the jury’s decision to convict Pfc Nasser Abdo on all counts. Abdo is simply a traitor to the United States of America, and his actions are a direct insult both to the uniform of the U.S. Army and in particular to all American Muslim service members. The decision to convict needs to be followed by a sentence that levels the harshest punishment possible, including the military immediately rescinding his Conscientious Objector status. American Muslim soldiers deserve that courtesy.

And speaking of PTSD…

Over at This Ain’t Hell, there’s this:

That crazy vet with PTSD thing again

It’s not known for certain if Miles was in the military, or if he was taking drugs, or if he has PTS, but that’s not going to stop Ms. Crum from warning us all that the streets are full of drugged up vets each on the cusp of a violent psychotic break.

I want to warn everyone that the streets are full of doped up, half-witted pseudo-journalists all just waiting to demonstrate how little they know about everything by arriving at completely irrational and unsupported conclusions.

Read it all here.

Could you all with press credentials stop this crap?  Or is it too much to ask that you do that fact-check thingy before you report on something you apparently knew nothing about before you started your piece?

Obama focuses on seniors, veterans in positive ads

By HENRY C. JACKSON, Associated Press – 18 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — TITLE: “Personal” and “Sacred Trust.”

LENGTH: Both 30 seconds.

AIRING: Broadcast and cable stations in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.

“Sacred Trust” focuses on Obama’s work for veterans, is narrated by Obama and begins with him talking to the camera. “The sacrifices that our troops have made have been incredible,” he says.

Interspersed with shots of Obama in an open-collared shirt are night-vision video of soldiers on a raid in a war zone, a daughter greeting her father who is wearing military fatigues, a wounded service member running on an outdoor track and Obama greeting veterans. News citations of improved veteran’s benefits flash on the screen.

At the end, Obama salutes.

“Sacred Trust” highlights the administration’s efforts to help veterans. Its specific claims are true, but lack context.

“Sacred Trust” also is notable because it makes reference to the military operation that killed Osama bin Laden. Obama is likely to continue reminding voters about that success before the Nov. 6 election. In this case, he’s doing so in an ad that’s not otherwise touting his national security credentials.

Read it all ~ and be prepared to gag.

(I’ve been busy visiting with my daughter and her family this past week ~ she heads back to Korea tomorrow for 4 more months.  I do believe this time will be harder than the first.  When she gets back from her tour there, they’ll be moving to a new base…somewhere.  Hopefully not Alaska.  As much as I’d love to see Alaska, it would be a helluva long drive, since I refuse to fly anymore.)

So, it looks like the Cheating-Community-Agitator-In-Chief will do anything he can and throw anyone (even those who make him look good) under the bus to further his nefarious plans of destroying America and rebuilding it in his corrupt, soulless, degenerate image.

Judicial Watch Obtains DOD and CIA Records Detailing Meetings with bin Laden Raid Filmmakers

DOD Officials Disclosed to Filmmakers Identity of SEAL Team Six Operator and Commander; Ask Film Director to Withhold Operator’s Name, ‘because he shouldn’t be talking out of school.’

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch, the organization that investigates and fights government corruption, announced today that it has obtained records from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) regarding meetings and communications between government agencies and Kathryn Bigelow, Academy Award-winning director of The Hurt Locker, and screenwriter Mark Boal.  According to the records, the Obama Defense Department granted Bigelow and Boal access to a “planner, Operator and Commander of SEAL Team Six,” which was responsible for the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden, to assist Bigelow prepare her upcoming feature film.

In addition to Judicial Watch’s pursuit of the bin Laden film records, the organization continues to fight in court for the release of the bin Laden post-mortem photos and video. The Obama administration continues to withhold these records citing national security concerns.

“These documents, which took nine months and a federal lawsuit to disgorge from the Obama administration, show that politically-connected film makers were giving extraordinary and secret access to bin Laden raid information, including the identity of a Seal Team Six leader,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is both ironic and hypocritical that the Obama administration stonewalled Judicial Watch’s pursuit of the bin Laden death photos, citing national security concerns, yet seemed willing to share intimate details regarding the raid to help Hollywood filmmakers release a movie ‘perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost’ to the Obama campaign.”

Read the emails here.

This is my daughter’s “boss”.  Oh, happy day.

Principle. Honor. Integrity. MIA

Adding more fuel (good ol’ gasoline too ~ not that green bio-crap) to my fire is International Security Assistance Force commander, Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen’s summer-in-Afghanistan assessment:

“I owe the president some real analysis on this. We’re going to need combat power; I don’t think anyone questions that,” Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen, International Security Assistance Force commander, told reporters at the Pentagon.

Allen said significant events will occur in Afghanistan this summer, including the withdrawal of some troops, reposturing the battle space, inserting advisors, and moving Afghan forces increasingly into the lead.

“We’ve got about 30 months left on the campaign, 31 months or so,” the commander said. “The ANSF has yet to be fully recruited. It’ll be done soon, but the deadline on it was 1 October.”

And how many of the ANSF “recruits” will lethally turn on our Troops?

Where’s the Media??

Oh yeah.  Spending their time and resources on haircuts and 150 year old massacres.  If they do turn their focus to the military, it’s always about the dangers of all the PTSD-suffering “walking timebombs” out there or the batsh*t crazy murderous troop that goes off the rails.

Thanks.  Thanks so much.

Here’s a breath of fresh air ~ from a blog, of course.  Certainly not the MSM.

PTSD: Challenging, But Manageable

By Tripp Ritter,

A movement has started to inform employers that the dangers and frequency of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are often overstated. According to researcher Dr. Harry Croft, medical director at the San Antonio Psychiatric Research Center, whose views on hiring veterans were covered in an earlier post “The Right Reason to Hire Veterans,” “Not only are the rates and severity of PTSD  lower than many assume but, when understood, the impact of PTSD in the workplace can be managed.”

PTSD Isn’t as Common as We Think

According to Dr. Croft, people assume that all service people coming back from Iraq or Afghanistan have PTSD. His own research shows that only one out of five returning veterans have some form of PTSD. What’s more, Dr. Croft states that the severity of PTSD is also exaggerated. While Staff Sergeant Bales, accused of murder in Afghanistan probably has PTSD, he also has a number of other maladies that contributed to the alleged crimes, according to Dr. Croft.

Read it all here, especially if you are an employer.  And pass it on.

Let’s help the ones who really need it and stop making victims out of those who don’t.

And vote this rotten administration and it’sCongressional supporters OUT!!!

They’re Here ~

Author: yankeemom  //  Category: freedom, Politics

And have been for some time.  They have finally acquired many seats of power in our government and are hellbent on destroying everything good in this country.  Unfortunately, unless you have spent time in Socialist and Marxist circles, you mostly wouldn’t recognize them.  They’re very good at hiding behind good intentions and patriotism.

Trevor Loudon has spent quite a bit of time researching and posting about the Socialists, Marxists and Communists whose agenda is to take over the government and put in place their delusional (and never successful) version of Utopia.  He has recently written a book on Obama and his communist and marxist ties: Barack Obama and the Enemies Within.

Now he is posting on those sitting in our Congress with “ties to to one or more of America’s several influential Marxist organizations”.

Loudon starts with Michigan freshman Democratic Congressman Hansen Clarke:

Communists in Congress? (1) Hansen Clarke (D) Michigan

Recently, Florida Rep. Allen West received considerable flak after claiming that there were up to eighty “communists” in the US Congress.

Rep. West was certainly correct in spirit. There are dozens of members of the US Congress who have strong ties to one or more of America’s several influential Marxist organizations.

This is the first of a series of profiles of Congress members with documentable connections to the US hard left.

Hansen Clarke (D) Michigan:

Michigan freshman Democratic Congressman Hansen Clarke represents the state’s 13th District and serves on the Homeland Security and Science, Space and Technology committees.

A former Chief of Staff to Michigan’s pro-Marxist Congressman John Conyers, Hansen Clarke seems to be following in his former mentor’s political footsteps.

Over many years, Congressman Clarke has openly aligned himself with the highly influential Detroit local of the US’ largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America.

Reaffirming a relationship that began several years ago, Congressman Clarke personally presented awards at Greater Detroit DSA’s 12th annual Frederick Douglass-Eugene V. Debs Dinner on October 1st at UAW Local 600 in Dearborn, Michigan.

Clarke presented Congressional citations to far leftist, the Reverend Ed Rowe and to the Restaurant Opportunities Center-Michigan.

Other speakers included an event regular, Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO President Saundra Williams and newly appointed DSA National Director Maria Svart.

There are many more and they even have their own caucus: The Congressional Progressive Caucus

What is CPC?

The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) consists of one United States Senator and seventy five members of the United States House of Representatives, and is the largest caucus within the House Democratic Caucus.  Established in 1991, the CPC reflects the diversity and strength of the American people and seeks to give voice to the needs and aspirations of all Americans and to build a more just and humane society.

The Co-Chairs of the CPC–U.S. Representatives Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-07) and Keith Ellison (MN-05) welcome your interest in the caucus.

Our Caucus members promote a strong, progressive agenda, what we call “The Progressive Promise–Fairness for All”.  The Progressive Promise is rooted in four core principles that embody national priorities and are consistent with the values, needs and aspirations of all the American people, not just the powerful and the privileged.  They reflect a fundamental belief in government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The four, core principles of the Progressive Promise:

1. Fighting for economic justice and security for all;

2. Protecting and preserving our civil rights and civil liberties;

3. Promoting global peace and security; and

4. Advancing environmental protection and energy independence

The CPC is committed to helping progressives, both inside and outside of Congress, to work together more effectively, in order to bring all of us closer to making good on The Progressive Promise.

Again, we appreciate your interest in the CPC and we look forward to working together to build a strong progressive network throughout America and beyond.

Remember ~ “progressive” is the present hidey/codey word for socialist, communist or marxist…depending on their political leanings.   But they all have one thing in common – get rid of our Constitution and the Founder’s exceptional idea of America.

The Progressive Promise

Fairness For All

The Congressional Progressive Caucus believes in government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Our fairness plan is rooted in our core principles. It also embodies national priorities that are consistent with the values, needs, and hopes of all our people, not just the powerful and the privileged. We pledge our unwavering commitment to these legislative priorities and we will not rest until they become law.

1. Fighting for Economic Justice and Security in the U.S. and Global Economies

» To uphold the right to universal access to affordable, high quality healthcare for all.

» To preserve guaranteed Social Security benefits for all Americans, protect private pensions, and require corporate accountability.

» To invest in America and create new jobs in the U.S. by building more affordable housing, re-building America’s schools and physical infrastructure, cleaning up our environment, and improving homeland security.

» To export more American products and not more American jobs and demand fair trade.

» To reaffirm freedom of association and enforce the right to organize.

» To ensure working families can live above the poverty line and with dignity by raising and indexing the minimum wage.

2. Protecting and Preserving Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

» To sunset expiring provisions of the Patriot Act and bring remaining provisions into line with the U. S. Constitution.

» To protect the personal privacy of all Americans from unbridled police powers and unchecked government intrusion.

» To extend the Voting Rights Act and reform our electoral processes.

» To fight corporate consolidation of the media and ensure opportunity for all voices to be heard.

» To ensure enforcement of all legal rights in the workplace.

» To eliminate all forms of discrimination based upon color, race, religion, gender, creed, disability, or sexual orientation.

3. Promoting Global Peace and Security

» To honor and help our overburdened international public servants – both military and civilian.

» To bring U. S. troops home from Iraq as soon as possible.

» To re-build U.S. alliances around the world, restore international respect for American power and influence, and reaffirm our nation’s constructive engagement in the United Nations and other multilateral organizations.

» To enhance international cooperation to reduce the threats posed by nuclear proliferation and weapons of mass destruction.

» To increase efforts to combat hunger and the scourge of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other infectious diseases.

» To encourage debt relief for poor countries and support efforts to reach the UN’s Millennium Goals for Developing Countries.

4. Advancing Environmental Protection & Energy Independence » To free ourselves and our economy from dependence upon imported oil and shift to growing reliance upon renewable energy supplies and technologies, thus creating at least three million new jobs, cleansing our environment, and enhancing our nation’s security.

» To promote environmental justice in affirmation that all people have an inherent right to a healthy environment, clean air, and clean water wherever we live, work, and relax.

» To change incentives in federal tax, procurement, and appropriation policies to:

(A) Speed commercialization of solar, biomass, and wind power generation, while encouraging state and local policy innovation to link clean energy and job creation;

(B) Convert domestic assembly lines to manufacture highly efficient vehicles, enhance global competitiveness of U.S. auto industry, and expand consumer choice;

(C) Increase investment in construction of “green buildings” and more energy-efficient homes and workplaces;

(D) Link higher energy efficiency standards in appliances to consumer and manufacturing incentives that increase demand for new durable goods and increase investment in U.S. factories;

» To eliminate environmental threat posed by global warming and ensuring that America does our part to advance an effective global problem-solving approach.

» To expand energy-efficient transportation choices by increasing investment in synthesized networks, including bicycle, local bus and rail transit, regional high-speed rail and magnetic levitation rail projects.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?  What they don’t post on their site is how they will attain all these lofty goals ~ or how they will pay for all of this. Basically, the bottom line is they will legislate more and more laws and regulations to control every aspect of your life, beating you down until the word “liberty” will be cast into the bin of archaic philosophies.

They will choose what food you eat, what area you can live in, what type of dwelling you’ll live in, where your kids will go to school, what they will learn there, what kind of car you can drive, if they don’t outlaw cars altogether, what you can discuss and where you can discuss it, who you can gather with and where, what healthcare you can receive and where, what kind of work you can do and how much you will be paid, and church?  Maybe.  Maybe not.

It has already begun and most people don’t even realize just how much of their goal has been attained.

We ARE under attack by people who call themselves American, but are so very far from being such.
