Well, Damn…
Military superiority fading, analyst says
The era of American military dominance, or “Pax Americana,” is dwindling as the nation loses its position far atop the global marketplace, a congressional military analyst said Wednesday.
(Gee, I wonder why that could be? Wouldn’t have anything to do with anti-military progressive congress critters and administrations, would it? Oh No! They support the Troops. Yes, indeedy!)
<…>
“It seems this administration finds massive amounts of money for bailout and [stimulus spending] but not enough to fund the basic money needed for defensive hardware and personnel,” said Rep. Trent Franks, Arizona Republican.

And then there’s this:
Troops fear IED blasts while riding in Humvees
Perilous patrols
“You ride in a Humvee?” a Marine sergeant asked rhetorically of an Army corporal. “You won’t catch me in one of those. Ninety percent or more of IED blasts involving Humvees are catastrophic.”
Bridges to nowhere, airports in (senator’s) name only, pet local construction deals, welfare, schips, labor unions, art…
Yet we still put our Troops in Humvees when the IED is the number one killer in the wars. Instead of the auto (too big to fail) industry making cars that no one except green worshiping sheeples will buy, how about turning some of those closed factories into making armored vehicles to put our Troops in? Jobs, safe military vehicles, more lives saved. Works for me!
Oh, maybe there’s no money in that for you Congress critters?

To make sure that search engines spread the word — a link on the front page isn’t enough, search engines want them embedded in text (!) –, I’m posting the link to Iraq Veterans for Congress Political Action Committee’s Web site to this thread.
