The Debate ~
I just heard a US Senator in regard to businesses passing on the cost of this healthcare reform to their customers, say, (paraphrasing here)
‘All the ones in opposition to this reform keep repeating that the business owners will do. They wouldn’t do that. They can’t do that. There’s this thing called supply and demand.’
WTF?!
If you have less money to buy your supply, there won’t be much demand.
Of course, business owners will pass on any rise in costs onto the customer! Where the hell does this allegedly intelligent Senator think businesses get their money? Has he never heard of “overhead”? Every cost of business is factored into the price of service or product. We’re not like the government who gets money from taxes…hell, we pay the government taxes on top of taxes! And - surprise! We factor that into the cost to the consumer as well.
It is quite apparent fromt he statements made on the Senate and House floors that our representatives know zip, zero, nada about what it takes to successfully run a business in the black.
But then, what government department and it’s programs have ever been successfully run in the black?
