Of course she is. Seems to be a favorite state of emotion for her lately.
But then she believes the greatest threat to all of us is Global Warming.
From this article in the San Fran Chron:
Sen. DeMint is quoted:
“One earmark provides gourmet organic lunches to schools in the Berkeley school district while our Marines make do with military rations of sloppy joes and chili beans,” he said. “This is unacceptable.”Boxer was apoplectic. She showed photos of students in Berkeley working in the garden, learning how to plant and grow vegetables.
“They work the garden, they learn about nutrition, they learn how to cook the food,” Boxer said. “Here’s a program that teaches them to love the whole notion of eating in a healthy way, and that’s the program he went after?”
She did say that “she disagreed with the letter the City Council originally approved, which called the Marines “unwelcome intruders” for operating a downtown recruiting center.”
But apparently she’s not upset that Berkeley resolved not to send the Marines an apology or take away Code Pink’s free parking space.
In fact, this bit of news:
Berkeley: Tab for protests at $93,500
Anti-war groups planning another demonstration for today
“…Anti-war groups, including CodePink and World Can’t Wait — Drive Out the Bush Regime, plan today to stage an all-day protest outside the recruitment center at 64 Shattuck Square, said Giovanni Jackson, a youth and student organizer with World Can’t Wait.
“We are definitely vowing to shut it down (today), and we are determined to continue this struggle until it’s shut down (permanently),” he said, adding that the anti-war groups encourage other cities that have similar military recruitment centers to join them in their protest….”
But I thought they were just against the war, not the military…
“Early Wednesday morning, following a marathon meeting at which 128 people spoke for or against the city’s stand on the Marines, the council voted 7-2 to issue a new statement emphasizing that “we deeply respect and support the men and women in our armed forces” and acknowledging “the recruiters’ right to locate in our city and the right of others to protest or support their presence.”
Read this in it’s entirety:
Hill: Gilligans appear to be inhabiting Berkeley’s Island
There is so much there that is absurd, I could do 10 posts on it. But it does show clearly the depth, or lack thereof, of the thinking in that neck of the swamp. And again, the military comes out as not worth much of a thought, even a shallow one.

Bryon at Hot Air has a good post on the latest with the Democrat elected officials regarding Berkekley:
Democrat Senator blocks new move to pass Semper Fi Act
There has been some Semper Fi Act action on the Hill today. Sen. Jim DeMint offered the act as an amendment to the Indian Health Care bill. Says my source on the Hill:
JD is on the Senate Floor right now offering Semper Fi as an amendment to the Indian Health Care bill. He’s going around the secret hold and trying to force a vote before we recess this weekend…
But:
Bingaman just blocked Semper Fi. DeMint offered Semper Fi as a second degree to Bingaman’s amendment that was first in line to the Indian Health Care bill (this would ensure that Semper Fi was the first vote today). Instead of voting to support the Marines, Bingaman just withdrew his amendment so no Democrats would have to decide between Marines and Code Pink.
That would be Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM). It’s ironic in light of today’s action that Sen. Bingaman prominently touts his work on behalf of veterans. (This is my favorite part as I so love leftist irony. Heh) If you’re interested in contacting Sen. Bingaman, here’s how.

Ah, the games they play, using the citizens of the country they were elected to serve as so many political chess pieces, mostly pawns.
And from my local newspaper, the Winchester Star:
A definite breath of fresh air for this ex-California Bay Area hostage.

Boxer makes me nuts. You are brave, to even read her words or listen to her. Like my husband says, few people can make me want to choke the TV like good ole’ Ms.Boxer.
And, excuse me, but students in Berkely need an earmark to learn organic gardening…oh please! Judging by the protest pictures and videos, they need manners, soap & water, Fathers, no MTV, and some “true” history lessons. I especially love the irony of Berkeley’s pot smoking organic farming.

Donna ~ she is a Bay area elite, for sure. CA needs a change in Senators and fast. But alas, from my experience there, it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Don’t you love the angst about taking away Chez Panisse (sp?) lunches from the “poor children”?
There is so much irony in Berkeley and they don’t even see it. lol

Two points: 1. The menu of Chez Panisse restaurant has nothing to do with the school lunch program in Berkeley. It is highly misleading, albeit entertaining, to cite some exotic items from this restaurant’s menu when referring to the Berkeley school lunch program. 2. The University of California is a state institution and is a separate entity from the city of Berkeley. It has an ROTC program; does not oppose military recruiting; and its chancellor protested the city council action against the Marine recruiting center. Yet the largest cut in this act would be nearly $1 million to the university Robert Matsui center. It makes no sense to punish the university for the actions of a city council over which it has no control.
