It sounded serious. A memo being circulated saying military personnel are being targeted for abuse by anti-war protesters in the Washington DC metro. A little digging, however, reveals that the hype was all smoke and no fire.

-If possible, do not commute in uniform (military members) -Do not display DoD building passes, “hot cards”, or personal identification in open view outside of the workplace -Do not discuss specifics about your occupation to outside solicitors -Always try to remain in well lit, well populated train cars if traveling via metro -Be vigilant at all times!

What an insult to our Military!
How about taking these clowns off the street? How about letting them know that this will not do! Nooo, just pander to the lowest common denominator and let them get a way with it. Again and again and again.
Why should our Military even have to be “vigilant” in the country they defend?? Will someone please answer me that??
Well, our guys and gals in uniform may have restrictions on taking care of such situations, but I don’t.
God, this week full of this intestinal waste has just gotten to be too much.

Donald, apparently you are correct that this memo is suspect. I’m so glad to hear it. I may still be a bit sensitive to this sort of info after having lived in Santa Cruz, CA for quite awhile where this is more common than not. Just ask the recruiters there, whom I know personally. They have had rocks thrown at their cars and have been roughly treated by by certain residents on so many occasions that they stopped wearing tteir uniform downtown just so they didn’t have to deal with it.
I must, though, take you to task on the rest of your statement about baby killer statements. That is true and has been validated. And it is going on now. See above.
I’m not even going to address the Republican lies statement.
Anyhoo - thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I wonder what good whomever started that thought they would be doing?
If they wanted more division and hatred –hey, hats off to them. They did it. But why wallow in that mire of degredation?

What got me was that it had been sent to Michael Yon! Of course, his book just hit the bookstores.
It’s sad really ~ there’s enough real tension in this country right now without adding more.
