Thoughts While Surfing The Net ~

I keep hearing citizens of the United States referring to themselves as “Latinos”, “Hispanics”, “Asians”, or “Blacks”, relative to their race, ethnicity or culture.  The hyphenated era we went through was bad enough ~ Asian-American, African-American etc.  At least they had “American” in there.  Now the “American” part seems to have fallen by the wayside.  Aren’t they Americans?  They seem to want all the American rights and privileges.  In fact, some groups loudly demand that those who are not Americans get these same rights and privileges because they fit into the same “category”.  Aren’t citizens of America, Americans?  Am I a Caucasian-American or just a Caucasian?  Or a Welsh-British-Irish-American?

Is my daughter a Welsh-British-Irish-German-Polish-American?

Does she need her own caucus?

Do those who get citizenship in another country other than the United States call themselves Black-French, or Asian-Columbians?  Or how about White-Vietnamese?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sanctuary Cities ~ now there’s a misnomer.  Sanctuary for whom?  Not American citizens, apparently.  If I take issue with a person living here illegally, I’m racist.  If I take issue with paying taxes to support people here illegally, I may very well be charged with a Hate Crime with the ACLU all over my butt.  When I point out that it is the illegality of the situation, I’m told I am against immigrants.  Nope, my great grandmother and great grandfather’s families immigrated to America from Wales at the end of the 19th century.  The difference here was they came through Ellis Island and went through the legal process of becoming U.S. citizens.  They didn’t expect anyone to bend, ignore, throw out the window the rules to allow them to stay here.  And they all learned to speak English as their first language.  After all, they were now Americans.
It’s amazing to me how many of my generation never grew up.  Childish utopian fantasies and temper tantrums still abound in the ME generation, 40 years later.  The sad part is that they, as parents, seem to have infected another generation with this I’ll-hold-my-breath-till-I-turn-blue-if-I-don’t-get-my-way attitude.  Sadder still, is that there are so many holding seats in Congress.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That a child of the parents of the 60’s who is running for President and CIC, can’t see the difference between visiting the troops because it’s the right thing to do and a photo op.  If the cameras  or my campaign advisors can’t come, then I’m not going either.   So there!  I’m going to hold my breath till I turn blue.  Oh, that doesn’t get me my way?  Fine, than I’m not going.  Let’s go shopping!!  UH! Uh! Uh!

I do NOT want a “Citizen of the World” as President of the United States.

I do NOT want “the World” making laws for my country.

I do NOT want “the World” to tell me what I can read or think or say.

I disagree with too many “Citizens of the World” beliefs and perspectives.

A World Citizen is a human being who lives intellectually, morally and physically in the present. A World Citizen accepts the dynamic fact that the planetary human community is interdependent and whole, that humankind is essentially one. A World Citizen is a peaceful and peacemaking individual, both in daily life and contacts with others. As a global person, a World Citizen relates directly to humankind and to all fellow humans spontaneously, generously and openly. Mutual trust is basic to his/her lifestyle. Politically, a World Citizen accepts a sanctioning institution of representative government, expressing the general and individual sovereign will in order to establish and maintain a system of just and equitable world law with appropriate legislative, judiciary and enforcement bodies. A World Citizen brings about better understanding and protection of different cultures, ethnic groups and language communities by promoting the use of a neutral international language, such as Esperanto. A World Citizen makes this world a better place to live in harmoniously by studying and respecting the viewpoints of fellow citizens from anywhere in the world.           (WTF??!!)

Revising history to make self-centered political hay isn’t very Presidential in my book.

Consequences for treason should be ramped up and acted upon.

If all you can do is run down this country, you are free to leave.  You are part of the problem, most certainly not part of the solution.  (That goes for presidential candidates too>)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The term “war criminal” should be only used when there is concrete evidence that, in fact, war crimes have been committed and tried.
There is indeed evil in this world and talking nicely will not stop it.
I am, indeed, stocking up on ammo.
I will end with this from Sparks From The Anvil:
George W’s War
I love irony.
    I refuse to hyphenate myself, but only because multiculturalists have made it unpalatable at the moment.
    You might be interested in my 4th of July post, as it’s directly related to your post, and personal to me.
    Thanks for the plug.
    I just updated my earlier post with the following from Medved, which is in the same spirit as the “George W’s War” article:The handsome young Democratic nominee is the most spellbinding orator of his generation, promising dramatic change to correct economic injustice and bring an end to a bloody, unpopular war. Republicans deride him as a showboating demagogue with scant governmental experience and place their faith in a gruff, battle-tested veteran who asks for public patience to fight the war till victory. Meanwhile, halfway around the world, anti-American insurgents have recently lost thousands of fighters to desertion and improved U.S. tactics, but they believe they can exploit their enemy’s war weariness. The guerrilla fighters, therefore, intensify their gruesome attacks as part of a conscious effort to influence the November election on behalf of the Democratic “peace” candidate.
    Though contemporary Americans will assume the above description applies to Iraq and the 2008 campaign, it’s also an accurate summary of the situation leading up to the fateful election of 1900 and the darkest days of our four-year war against insurrectionists in the Philippines. This nearly forgotten conflict deserves renewed attention today since the parallels with our present predicament count as both eerie and illuminating.
    Wordsmith ~ I’m going to have to go back and refresh my knowledge on the Philippine action. It’s been awhile since I’ve read about that. The saying is “those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it”, or something like that…well, what pops up for me as I read about the history of this country and the rest of the world, is more of the reality of the human condition. If there are humans involved, there will be corruption, greed and power-grabbing right alongside honesty, generosity and right-rule. Very rarely are a group of human beings ever on the same page. And the ones with the most power are the ones who get their way. Until someone bigger and stronger comes along.
    Thank you for pointing me to your July 4th post. It was very touching.
    I have a hard time understanding prejudice. I wasn’t raised that way. It was the person’s character that mattered, not the color of their skin or the shape of their eyes.
    I want to go to Wales and the part of England that my ancestors came from to see where some of my roots are. But I’ll be going as an American. I’m an American first, who’s people happened to come from somewhere else. I married a Scot and that would have caused problems at one time if we were still living in Wales and Scotland, as they were enemies. But no longer.
    The photo you have up there reminded me of my brother at that age - only he was being “The Singing Cowboy” (can’t remember his name at the moment). I was always Annie Oakley when I wasn’t playing an Indian chief. Yep, I’m that old!!
    (To everyone ~ I highly recommend reading Wordsmith’s post on this!)
