Yesterday, I watched the Bidens and Obamas on CSPAN doing their “We Support The Troops and their Families” dog and pony show to promote their “Joining Forces” campaign ~ but mostly themselves.

This coming just four days after the Obama administration showed the country that subsidizing abortion mills is more important than paying our Military.Good afternoon,

It’s now time, they said, for the rest of the nation to hear these stories.   (Gee, it’s only been TEN FRICKIN” Years!  Where were you during 2001 - 2010?  Oh that’s right, making a helluva lot of money in a drummed up job.)

“There isn’t a citizen on the face of this nation who wouldn’t be moved by [their] fortitude,” the first lady said. “These aren’t stories of sadness — they’re stories of success, triumph …. These are the stories the country needs to be motivated by.”

“They don’t complain and they won’t ask for help,” the first lady said. “They feel they should be handling this burden.”   (Because we know what self-reliance and responsibility means.  And who says it’s a “burden”?  But you wouldn’t know anything about the pride we feel that tops all the worry and sleepless nights spent praying.)

It used to be easy to fool too many people all the time before all the new technological advances, such as the internet and cellphones with cameras.   I grew up in the time of three TV stations, newspapers and radio - no 24 hour cable news or AM radio talk shows.  We heard the news in the evening for about an hour during dinner and again right before bed.  No time for all the analysis and opinion espousing that goes on today.  You needed a shortwave radio or ham radio to hear anything from another country.

News has always had a political leaning.  There were your Democrat and Republican newspapers.  And the ones in power have always had some sway over what was - or what was not reported.

But not like today.

My, how things have changed.

Now, because of the “instant news” cycles, we get more false or unconfirmed “news” than ever before.  After all, when one is “on” 24/7, one has to report something, true or not.  If one does not have enough reportage to fill the time slot, why, just bring in the “experts” to talk about what might, could, should, probably happen ~ or not.  Facts are less important than reporting something ~ anything.

Journalists have turned into political operatives and news reports are more propaganda than just reporting actual events.  You aren’t told what happened as much as what to think about it.

And this can all be spread world-wide in a second through the internet.

Which was seen in all it’s nastiness this weekend as the Arizona shooting became a continuous hit-piece masquerading as news reporting.

AZ State Senator Linda Lopez speaking to Shepard Smith on Fox News responding to the news that Rep. Giffords was dead (she was not) and then said this:

State Senator Linda Lopez told Shepard Smith, “I have heard, and I don’t know this for a fact, but I have heard that this person was an Afghan Veteran”. (emphasis mine)

If you don’t know it for a fact, why say it?

Lopez also talked about the ‘horrible signs’ at Tea Party rallies during the last election.

“There’s been so much vitriol flung at her by the tea party people.  You know, her opponent in the election was a Tea Party candidate and the signs that were up around town accusing her of horrible things. You know when people make these kinds of comments, it pushes some folks over the edge.”

Easy to say, but can you prove it?

‘MARK HALPERIN: I just want to single out one thing. I don’t want to over-generalize but I think the media and the politicians have behaved pretty well so far. The thing I’m most concerned about now is the anger on the right-wing commenatariat: on Fox, and George Will, and other conservatives are, in some cases justifiably upset at liberals. But they’re turning this right now, in the last 24 hours, back into the standard operating procedure of all of this is war and fodder for content, rather than trying to bring the country together.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Wait a second, Mark. I think they would say that you have that backwards. That a shooting was turned into fodder to attack conservatives.

Julian Assange prides himself on being a bomb-thrower, eager to take down Western governments and banks, the U.S. military, etc. Yet, in cowardly fashion, he stays clear of getting involved with dissident leakers from those governments and groups — e.g., China, Iran, North Korea, Hezbollah, Russia, Syria — that (1) do far more damage to the global body politic than the United States, and (2) might well do bodily harm to Mr. Assange should he do to them what he does to Western interests.

President Obama gave a speech Monday, which isn’t particularly newsworthy in itself, as part of the president’s job is to be Speechgiver-in-Chief. But this speech was different, at least for me, simply because I listened to part of it.

Not listening to presidential speeches is a habit I developed during the Clinton administration in an effort to preserve my sanity. It was my wife who suggested this non-listening policy after she watched me seething with fury and muttering curses throughout Bill Clinton’s 1996 State of the Union address.

What are we to make of this? For one thing, the emerging concern among conservatives that supporters of the Tea Party movement will back massive cuts in national-security spending seems misplaced. After all, the vast majority of House GOP freshmen — at least 20 of whom are veterans themselves — will return home each weekend to districts chock-full of former Marine drill sergeants, Navy fighter pilots, and Army tank commanders. It is safe to assume that these constituents won’t look kindly on lawmakers who propose to gut our armed services, especially in a time of war.

But of course, she sees nothing extreme about Teh I Won’s policies ~ They are cut from the same cloth.  Besides, what’s does the Constitution of these United States matter?

But then, the great unwashed masses (that would be you and me) are just “fickle”:

No, I don’t like the whole idea.  Any burning of books leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  I’m old enough to remember a lot of hoopala about certain books that certain people thought should be banned.  Excuse me, but I’d appreciate making up my own mind on what I choose to read.  But then, knowledge is power and those who would take all power for themselves would rather the masses stay ignorant.  After all, this tactic had worked successfully for centuries in our not so distant past.  Just read about “the Church” and it’s history of keeping the unwashed illiterate.  In our own country, slaves were not allowed to learn to read.  Females of all social stratas were kept from furthering their education so as not to become of an “hysterical” nature.

Plus, Pastor Jones is plain nuts, imo, and I don’t take kindly at all to anything that may further endanger our Troops.  Pastor Jones - you are not a god-fearing man or, apparently, one who thinks about the ramifications of your actions.   No, you are selfish and self-centered.

But that’s not the main issue here, bad as I believe that to be, that has me spittin’ 10-penny nails.

No. It’s the absolutely shameful hypocrisy on the part of those wailing the most about the awfulness of such a deed.

They cry: “bigotry!!”, “hatred!!” and “intolerance!!” toward all Muslims.

That’s an awfully large brush they are painting an entire country with ~  for an action done by, at the most, 50 people in some obscure church somewhere in Florida.

These, of course, are the same people who have no clue why the building of the Ground Zero Mosque upsets so many.

But where are all these howlers-about-hate when the Westboro Baptist Church lunatics are out protesting at our Fallen Combat troops’ funerals with their signs exclaiming (in neon colors) that “God Hates Fags” and “Thank God for Dead Soldiers”?

Where are these people when “artists” dunk a crucifix in urine and call it “art’?

Where are these people when synagogues are burned or vandalized?

Where are these people when a Mormon priest is killed in his office?

Where are these people when Muslims in Middle East countries are burning the US flag and trampling all over it.

Where are these people when Christians and Jews are tortured, beheaded and killed in Muslim countries?

No, I do not like book burning of any kind, but I detest hypocrisy more.

And then there is the media, who can’t for the life of any one of them, denounce the “Death to America” and flag burning riots by Muslims across the Middle East for something that hasn’t even happened yet.  No, all they can do is throw gasoline on the fire of hatred for America by opining about all the fear and intolerance Americans keep showing the Muslims.  I’ve yet to see video of all those widespread hateful actions that must be going on in towns all over America.

Pretty telling, that.

(How about “is it the right thing to do” to build a Mosque by Ground Zero?  Oh, that’s right.  We’re not supposed to offend only the sensitivities of Muslims…Christians and Jews be damned.)

Whew! Been a rough couple of days not having much internet access, what with all that is going on and having to actually watch those nasty cable news shows to get the news.  At least CPAC was on CSPAN and had some terrific speakers.

I didn’t realize that Blog Talk Radio used so many megabytes!  Having to use aircards and having only 10 gigabytes a month is soooo limiting.  And that cute little guy at Verizon initially told me,  “Oh yeah, 5 gigabytes is alot.  You probably won’t even use them all.”  HA!  I barely make it through the month with 10 G’s and that’s only if I don’t go to BTR too often.   I may just have to stop by Verizon again ~ soon…

So, I get this email from our former Guvner, Tim Kaine, who is now head of the DNC.  He writes:

It’s a breathtaking display of public hypocrisy.

At least 116 Republican governors, senators, and representatives have spent the past year railing against the Recovery Act, while simultaneously requesting funds to create jobs in their districts and taking credit for projects at ribbon-cutting ceremonies.   (Which is why we are getting rid of all those who do not understand the concept of “small government”, regardless of what letter they have after their name.  And those governors who can’t keep their state on budget - out they go too.”)

As the independent PolitiFact put it, they’re trying “have their cake… and vote against it too.” They know the Recovery Act is creating jobs, but they think attacking it will bring them victory in the 2010 elections. (Umm, first of all, government jobs have been created, yes.  Like we need anymore of those.  Private sector jobs ~ not so much.  That would actually be good for the country and would further that individual freedom thing you all seem to despise and we can’t have that!  In Virginia, as of 12/30/09, 9,834 jobs have been reported - mostly county or city or school.  Imagine that!)

Not so fast. We’re preparing to meet every hypocritical attack with press conferences in states across the nation and a rapid-response program to fact check every lie. But we need your help to make it happen. (How ironic that you on the left side of the aisle would scream hypocrisy . Besides, you wouldn’t know how to fact check a lie if it stood up and slapped you in the head.  How’s that transparency behind closed doors thingie working for ya?)

Today is the anniversary of the President signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that has saved or created at least 2 million jobs, (Lie) cut taxes for 95 percent of working families, (Woo Hoo!  Something like $13 bucks a week?  Why, we can buy Gramma that house in the Hamptons now!) and made loans to over 42,000 small businesses. (Which ones and how much?) And as a former governor, I can tell you it also provided critical relief for state governments facing record budget shortfalls.  (Yeah, until it runs out.  Then what are they going to do?  That was borrowed money to begin with, because we’re BROKE and it will have to be paid back by our kids.  Great idea, that!)

But don’t take it from me. Listen to Rep. Joe Wilson, who told the Department of Agriculture that the money he was seeking “would provide jobs and investment” for his South Carolina district. Or take it from Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty, who balanced his state budget with the same funds he’s so often attacked on TV.  (It’s this attitude that got us in this fix and also why so many of those in the House and Senate will be looking for new jobs real soon. Shouldn’t be too hard - after all, they have government sector experience.)

Even the GOP leadership that went all out to kill the bill has gotten into the game — Sen. Mitch McConnell has bragged about funding for a military project in Kentucky, while Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor sought funds for a high-speed rail project in Virginia to create jobs.  (See above.)

President Obama has made it clear he knows that we’re not out of the woods yet, and he’s focused on creating jobs. Honesty with the American people is one of the obligations of leadership.  (Oh really?  Then why are you all talking constantly about the Healthcare reform bill, that most of this country does NOT want? And ~  see right there - that part about honesty as an obligation?  An “obligation”?  It should be a “principle”.  So anyway, just when exactly is the president going to take up that “obligation”?)

In stark contrast, Republicans are engaged in a hypocritical campaign of attacks — and they’re proving what we’ve said all along: Their opposition is about politics, pure and simple. (In stark contrast to what??  And your pushing this travesty of spending and ignoring the Constitution is what exactly??  Altruism?  Maybe their opposition is because they are finally listening to the people they represent.  We want the spending of money we don’t have to STOP!!)

We’re going to prove that it’s not winning politics — but we need your support to expose their hypocrisy: (What does that even mean?)

Friday, speaking at an ultra-conservative conference, (ooh!  “ultra-conservative”!  The real scary extremists people!) Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty attacked the Recovery Act and said “we can’t spend more than we have” — even though he couldn’t balance his state budget without dipping into Recovery Act funds.  (Well, maybe he finally got a clue and is acting on what he’s been hearing a lot of Minnesotans are telling him.  Of course, you have no concept of that, unless it comes with a donation….preferably large)

It’s just another hypocritical attack from a party that is more interested in partisan gridlock than putting Americans back to work.  (Keep saying “gridlock” as if it’s a bad thing, if it keeps you busy at work writing emails.  I’m liking gridlock, myself.  That way I get to keep more of MY money and my kids get to keep more of theirs.  Yep, I’m liking gridlock.)

We’re pushing back on every hypocritical (apparently, this is the new Dem buzzword.  More like pot calling kettle black with hypocrisy) claim the GOP can dream up, and our charge is getting headlines across the country. Harry Reid did it again.

“…reported remarks during the 2008 presidential campaign describing Barack Obama as “light-skinned” who chose to speak “with no Negro dialect….”

Lord knows, it’s not the first time he has spoken in a less than statesman-like manner:

“…and very soberly…compared those who opposed health care to those who opposed civil rights legislation*….

*Which was mainly Democrats by the way…see, he can’t even get history right.

That he said it doesn’t really matter as much as the fact that he’s getting away with it, unlike all those on the right that have had their careers destroyed by those on the left for far less.

But then, with the left, a consistent and fair standard of behavior does not apply to their world view or belief system.

Though they demand fairness in all things in the social justice arena, this does not necessarily include those on the right.  Some folks are just more deserving of fairness than others.

Reid’s statements cannot be construed as “racist”, silly, because he’s a Democrat and it is a Truth that Democrats cannot be racist. Ever.  Facts be damned ~ again.

Their tolerance does have limits.  Their hypocrisy does not.

Just ask Trent Lott.
