Yesterday, I watched the Bidens and Obamas on CSPAN doing their “We Support The Troops and their Families” dog and pony show to promote their “Joining Forces” campaign ~ but mostly themselves.
This coming just four days after the Obama administration showed the country that subsidizing abortion mills is more important than paying our Military.Good afternoon,
From the First Missus:
I’m writing to make sure that you know about an unprecedented national campaign to support our nation’s military families called Joining Forces.
As First Lady, I’ve had the privilege of meeting with Americans in uniform around the world. These brave men and women would be the first to tell you that they don’t serve alone. Every day, they are joined in service to our country by military wives, husbands, children, siblings and parents.
Joining Forces is about all of us joining together, as Americans, to give back to the extraordinary military families who sacrifice so much every day. Our motto is simple - everyone can do something. So take a moment to find out how you can play a part: Watch the videoLike their loved ones, military families are proud to serve. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Indeed many Americans may not realize how difficult it can be to have a parent or spouse deployed overseas.
That’s why Joining Forces is so important. We’re going to match the unique needs and strengths of America’s military families with specific ways that Americans can offer support.
So on behalf of the President, as well as the Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden, proud military parents themselves, let me offer a heartfelt thanks to not only our troops and their families - but also to the rest of you for joining forces to support them.
Sincerely,
Michelle Obama
First Lady of the United States
Unprecedented!!!!!!
Just what the Military and their families need ~ more government-sponsored community activism.
How about you just pay them enough so they don’t have to be on foodstamps and WIC.
But no, Planned Parenthood and NPR are s much more important, doncha know.
Yeah, I’m angry.
If they really meant it, it’d be different. But remember, it’s campaign season!!!
First Lady, Dr. Biden to ‘Shine Light’ on Military Families
By Elaine Sanchez
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, April 12, 2011 - First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden said they have spoken with countless military families in their travels and have heard some “breathtaking” stories of service and sacrifice. They’ve talked to wives dealing with fourth and fifth deployments, to children stepping up to care for their families, and to caregivers who walked away from jobs and homes to care for a wounded loved one.
It’s now time, they said, for the rest of the nation to hear these stories. (Gee, it’s only been TEN FRICKIN” Years! Where were you during 2001 - 2010? Oh that’s right, making a helluva lot of money in a drummed up job.)
“There isn’t a citizen on the face of this nation who wouldn’t be moved by [their] fortitude,” the first lady said. “These aren’t stories of sadness — they’re stories of success, triumph …. These are the stories the country needs to be motivated by.”
<…>
“These families, and the men and women who serve, represent the best of this country,” the first lady said. “They struggle and have challenges, but are succeeding in the face of some devastating circumstances in some instances, and they are patriotic and dedicated and ready to do it again. (Then why are you making our Military families out to be sad cases in need of government meddling?
<…>
“This has to be hard,” Obama said of the struggles that troops and their families face, “emotionally, physically, financially, you name it.” (Damn, Really? Who’d have thought?)
<…>
Military families are strong, they said, but this strength can sometimes translate into a reluctance to ask for the support they need.
“They don’t complain and they won’t ask for help,” the first lady said. “They feel they should be handling this burden.” (Because we know what self-reliance and responsibility means. And who says it’s a “burden”? But you wouldn’t know anything about the pride we feel that tops all the worry and sleepless nights spent praying.)
<…>
“It’s that call to action that I think this country will respond to positively — to say let’s step up and care for these families, these veterans,” the first lady said. (I guess you don’t know about all the wonderful Americans all over the country that are quietly going about their supporting the families and veterans. Amazingly enough they didn’t need to wait TEN FRICKIN’ YEARS for YOU to tell them what to do.)
<…>
Biden agreed. “I hope we never ever have again a military family who says … I just don’t think Americans appreciate what we do,” she said. “I want them to know and feel they’re appreciated.” (Then maybe you should have a talk with the Prez and all those Congress Critters and tell them to STOP using our kids as political pawns in their political games!!!!)
Read it all here. (have gag bowl ready)
Then there’s this:
Military Family Support a ‘National Priority,’ Obama Says
By Fred W. Baker III
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, April 12, 2011 - President Barack Obama today made caring for military families a national priority, calling to action his entire administration and communities across the United States on their behalf.
“The strength and the readiness of America’s military depend on the strength and readiness of our military families,” the president said. “This is a matter of national security. It’s not just the right thing to do. It also makes this country strong.” (Unless, of course, he doesn’t get his way with the Republicans. Then all bets are off.)
<…>
The president praised the efforts of today’s military, but added that no troop serves alone. (Well, they certainly don’t have you at their backs. You made that quite clear last week.)
“Behind every American in uniform stands a wife, a husband, a mom, a dad, a son or a daughter, a sister or brother,” he said. “These families, these remarkable families are the force behind the force. They, too, are the reason we’ve got the finest military in the world.” (But to save the
In Obama’s travels to military installations since taking office, he said, one theme recurs in his conversations with service members.
“There’s one thing they request more than anything else: Take care of my family. Take care of my family. Because when our troops are worried about their families back home, it’s harder for them to focus on the mission overseas,” Obama said. (Oh yeah, I’m sure they’re ” the first thing” you think of in the morning and “the last thing” you think of before going to bed.)
<…>
“As commander in chief, (In case you had forgotten. Oh, and I’m also President!) I’m not going to be satisfied until we meet these commitments,” Obama said. “Across this administration, we’re going to keep doing everything in our power to give our military families the support and the respect that they deserve.” (Oh please…we didn’t just fall of the turnip truck)
But, the president said, national support for military families cannot be solely a government function. Support needs to be at the community level. (And we need your tax dollars to make it happen!!)
“Our military and our military families can’t be the only ones bearing the burden of our security,” he said. “The United States of America is strongest — and as Americans, we are at our best — when we remember our obligations to each other; when we remember that the price of freedom cannot simply be paid by a select few, when we embrace our responsibilities to each other, especially those who serve and sacrifice in our name.” (Damn, you are so out of touch with the American people, especially those bitterly clingin’ to their religion and guns ~ and supporting our Troops for TEN FRICKIN’ YEARS! Those you hang with? Meh, not so much.)
You can watch the show at CSPAN here…IF you can take all the patting each other on the back for all the self-righteous, albeit late, “good works” they are doing for us poor, put upon, downtrodden, miserable Military families.
It’s an ALL-VOLUNTEER Military!
But they DID NOT volunteer for stupidity from politicians and bureaucrats.

Remember this from 2009?
Homeland Security Warns of Rise in Right-Wing Extremism
The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement agencies that recent news is helping “right-wing extremist groups” recruit new members and could lead to violence, and warns about the possible recruitment and radicalization of returning veterans. (Italics mine.)

And maybe the Big O can stop sending our kids into places we don’t need to go.

God Bless the Military Families and their loved ones in uniform.
